Although it’s excellent that the automotive industry is increasingly turning away from gasoline and diesel, not everyone is pleased with the change. The alienation and dissatisfaction among automobile fans have their roots in a number of factors, with speed being one of the main issues.

However, because the Battista hypercar from Mahindra-owned Automobili Pininfarina recently broke speed records, speed will not be a major issue for EVs in the future.

Automobili Pininfarina, a luxury EV company that the Mahindra Group purchased in 2015, recently declared that their battery-powered hypercar, which just made its debut, was the world’s fastest-accelerating electric car and the fastest-accelerating road-legal vehicle.

The announcement creates excitement among automobile enthusiasts, and that’s why it has become the talk of the town instantly. However, even with all of these advances, the Pininfarina Battista would trail auto rickshaws in traffic.

At least one Twitter user expressed this viewpoint in a comment on Anand Mahindra’s tweet advertising the hypercar, and guess what? The businessman agreed!

Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra tweeted on Wednesday about the new milestone his business had set in the car industry

He tweeted a Robb Report piece with the caption,

“Pininfarina’s All-Electric Battista Hypercar Just Became the World’s Fastest Street-Legal Vehicle. Which is more than an ‘interesting’ factoid for Indians. Because the entire project was conceived by @MahindraRise of which @AutomobiliPinin is a part!”

Anand Mahindra’s latest accomplishment was widely praised in the comments left on the Twitter post. However, one comment attracted everyone’s attention, including Anand Mahindra. On Anand Mahindra’s post, he commented,

“Still Auto Rickshaws will be more faster in Indian Traffic [sic].”

Responding to this comment, Anand Mahindra wrote,

“Can’t argue with that!”

Because of their tiny size, auto rickshaws are ideally suited for driving through congested alleys and rounding sharp turns. On the other hand, with a peak speed of 270 mph and a range of 310 miles on a single charge, the Pininfarina Battista Super GT becomes the first in a line of exclusively electric, zero-emission luxury automobiles.

According to the company’s news statement, the Battista became the world’s fastest-accelerating electric car by going from 0 to 100 km/h in under 1.79 seconds. However, we know this is nothing when it comes to seeing drivers drive their autorickshaws frantically on busy Indian roads.
