Ashneer Grover, former founder of BharatPe, is known for making controversial comments. With an unapologetic attitude, the entrepreneur has been known to draw online criticism from time to time on various issues, from professional to political and social. However, this time around, the focus turned towards the comment made by his wife, Madhuri Jain Grover, regarding a very delicate matter of family planning and poverty. In a recent episode of a podcast, Madhuri commented that poverty is aggravated if poor people have many kids despite the lack of means.
Her statement gained massive traction and started trending among netizens, who then engaged in a heated discussion over the same topic. While some of the users backed her comments, others felt she had failed to consider the other factors contributing to poverty, such as education, healthcare, jobs, and economic inequality. The criticism was so intense that a user on X thought of taking it one step further and started criticizing Ashneer Grover directly. Ashneer Grover, as usual, didn’t let the comment go and gave another divisive answer.

What did Madhuri Grover say?
This issue arises from statements made by Madhuri Jain Grover in one of her podcast discussions, where she addressed the subject of family planning with regard to poverty.
She said that poverty can be further exacerbated in cases where the family cannot afford to rear all its members. In this light, she urged people to consider their capabilities before planning for kids, as opposed to hoping things will work out in the future.
Her statement created a debate on social media. Although some individuals appreciated her views and admitted that financial planning is vital in bringing up kids, others felt she was trivializing poverty.

An X user asked Ashneer Grover to donate his wealth while criticising his wife’s comment
In all of this controversy, X user Nalini Unagar tagged Ashneer Grover and issued a challenge regarding his family member’s stance on family planning and poverty.
The user stated that if his wife thinks that having more kids leads to poverty, then he should give away his estimated Rs 900 crore worth of wealth by donating Rs 50 lakh to each of the 1,800 families, which will then be able to easily support and feed their 3,200 kids. The user wondered why people were suggesting that the poor have fewer kids instead of distributing wealth.

In simple words, the comment meant that the person sounded a little too casual while making the request, and his wife had already “given enough advice,” which is all they would get.
The reply resonated with many users and quickly went viral, garnering over 4,000 likes within hours. Although many users appreciated Grover’s humor, others continued to criticize his opinion on the issue of poverty and family planning.
