Anurag Kashyap is among the most beloved and well-regarded film filmmakers in India. He has created several classic Hindi movies. The raw reality and frequently gripping storylines of Anurag’s films keep audiences firmly seated. His attitude towards producing movies has always been admirable and unique.
However, in recent years, he has always been in the news for saying something controversial. Apart from criticising the government, Anurag Kashyap receives a lot of flak from the audience for speaking out on certain contentious issues.

Although many people like his bold and outspoken approach, he has constantly been a troll’s target. A similar kind of criticism he faced when he recently took a jibe at The Kashmir Files film by indirectly saying that the film is not appropriate for the Oscars. Nevertheless, a filmmaker who made a film, Vivek Agnihotri, is not the one who just ignores his contentious comments.
Agnihotri hit back at Kashyap in his own way and proved that if Kashyap is outspoken, then he is way more outspoken when it comes to defending his work. So, let’s find out what actually happened:
Anurag Kashyap took an indirect jibe at The Kashmir Files
Currently, Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap are promoting their next movie, Dobaaraa. The futuristic horror movie is anticipated to arrive on theatre screens this week.
While the filmmaker has already addressed the state of Indian cinema in an open and honest manner during one of the promotional interviews, in the same interview, he also said that a movie like RRR should be nominated for an Oscar instead of a movie like Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files.

In an interview with Galatta Plus, Anurag Kashyap talked about RRR and how the Ram Charan, Junior, NTR film is seen in the West. He said,
“The West sees RRR differently than how we see it, and they’ve loved RRR. If RRR becomes the India selection, 99% it might get nominated for the Academy Award. That is the impact that RRR has had in the world of Hollywood. India might actually have a nomination in the final five, if RRR is the film that we pick. I don’t know what film anybody is going to pick. I hope not Kashmir Files.”
Vivek Agnihotri hits back at Anurag Kashyap for dismissing The Kashmir Files’ ability
Anurag Kashyap’s remarks about Agnihotri’s recent movie didn’t sit well with anyone. He received a lot of criticism on the internet. And most recently, he was also criticised by Vivek Agnihotri.
After Anurag referenced his movie, a displeased Vivek Agnihotri shared a picture of the article comparing “RRR” to “The Kashmir Files” on Twitter with the remark,
“IMPORTANT: The vicious, GENOCIDE-DENIER lobby of Bollywood has started their campaign against #TheKashmirFiles for #Oscars, under the leadership of the maker of #Dobaaraa.”

Speaking of The Kashmir Files, the movie is based on a story that examines Kashmir’s militancy as well as the infamous genocide and exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in the 1990s. While the movie did a stupendous job at the box office, breaking several records, it has also received lots of criticism from this section of society for being Islamophobic and spreading propaganda.
