New Zealand has secured a spot in the World Cup semi-finals 9 times but never managed to get their hands on the trophy. They reached the knockout stage in the first two editions in 1975 and 1979. New Zealand was also present in the 1992 and 1999 semi-finals. They entered the knockout stage in every World Cup from 2007 to 2023 (2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, 2023). 2. Australia – 9 times
Australia is a renowned name in international cricket, they have managed to reach the knockout stage nine times – in 1975, 1987, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015, 2019, and 2023. Australia completed a hat-trick of World Cup titles with their victory in 1999, 2003, and 2007.
3. India – 8 times
India made it to the semi-finals for the first time in 1983 and won the title by defeating the West Indies. In the following edition in 1987, they secured a place in the semi-finals again but lost to England in the semi-finals. The Men in Blue made a strong comeback in the 1996 edition and reached the semi-final for the third time. After a few poor performances, India reached the knockout stage in the 2011 World Cup, they went on to reach the finals and claimed their second title. After this, India has managed to make it to the semi-finals four times in a row, in 2015, 2019, and 2023.

4. England – 6 times
After reaching the semi-finals, England became the champions in the 2019 World Cup. England has managed to reach the semi-finals only five times in the first 11 editions of the tournament. They secured a place in the World Cup semi-finals in 1975, 1979, 1983, 1987, and 1992.
5. Pakistan – 6 times
Pakistan reached the semi-finals in four consecutive editions in 1979, 1983, 1987 and 1992. In the 1992 World Cup, under the excellent leadership of Imran Khan, the Men in Green won the title for the first time. They secured a place in the World Cup 6 times in 1979, 1983, 1987, 1992, 1999, and 2011. Pakistan’s last semi-final appearance was in the 2011 World Cup.
