Under Babar Azam’s leadership, Pakistan’s cricket team’s eagerly awaited 2023 Cricket World Cup appearance proved to be unsuccessful. During the league stage, they performed poorly, winning just four of nine matches. Losses to formidable opponents like Australia, South Africa, and India revealed deeper problems within the team.
However, former player Abdul Razzak took this criticism in a different direction. While criticizing the team’s efforts, he made offensive comments about Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. This took the focus off of the team’s troubles on the field. Razzaq’s indirect criticism of the Pakistan Cricket Board led to widespread condemnation on social media. Many star cricketers condemned his comments and even criticized those who clapped on his comments.

While this fiasco is not going to calm down anytime soon, another similar kind of controversy erupted on the internet. However, this time, it is related to the relationship between Indian actress Neena Gupta and West Indies cricketer Sir Vivian Richards. The video of a Pakistani news channel going viral on the internet in which anchors and guests were seen making disrespectful and racist jokes on both stars.
The video soon went viral, and netizens asked media houses for a proper apology. Since then, the matter has been dominating the internet, with many people trying to know more about it.
Pakistani media channels disrespected Neena Gupta and Sir Vivian Richards on air
As everyone is aware, Neena Gupta and West Indian cricket captain Vivian Richards developed a romantic relationship in the late 1980s, even though Richards was married. Neena got pregnant, but marriage was never an option. Despite societal pressures against having a child out of wedlock, Neena chose motherhood and had her daughter, Masaba Gupta.
While much time has passed, people are still discussing their relationship. Many people started taking it as normal; others are still making fun of it. And sometimes, this fun-making was done on national television. A similar incident happened on Pakistan’s national television, and its video has been going viral on the internet recently.

It all started when, on the X platform, a cricket enthusiast user posted a snippet of a video of the Pakistani TV show. At first glance, people might think that on the show, the host and guests would be discussing cricket because the show is about cricket and former PCB chief Ramiz Raja is a guest.
However, what shocked everyone was that the host and Ramiz Raja were shamelessly cracking jokes about the love lives of Neena Gupta and Sir Vivian Richards. What is more shocking is that they were seen making racist remarks about Sir Vivian Richards, and the whole audience was laughing and cheering on them.
