A Mumbai-based techie recently claimed that she was threatened and abused by a Rapido driver who initially attempted to overcharge her and then asked her to cancel the ride after she declined to accept the price. Ohshin Bhat took to the social media platform, X and shared a screenshot of the driver’s abusive message on the internet.
Ohshin revealed that the Rapido driver made his cab available under the Economy category, as the category gets more rides. However, the driver demanded more than the quoted fare. The rider also mentioned that when she booked a cab through the ride-hailing service Rapido, she requested a cab of the ‘Rapido Economy’ class. But she got a Premium vehicle instead. Economy rides generally cost less than Premium ones. Economy cabs are often hatchbacks whereas the Premium category cabs are mostly sedans.

The techie explained that when she refused to pay extra, the Rapido driver began insulting and threatening her
The accused Rapido driver hurled abuses at her calling insulting words. The exchange between Oshin and the driver can be seen in the screengrab of the chat. The Rapido driver told Oshin,
“Cancel kar do varna pel dunga khade khade (Cancel the ride or I will beat you up)”
He went on and insulted the Mumbai techie,
“Bhikhari ki aulad (Child of a beggar).”
When the customer refused to raise the fare, the Rapido driver said,

Ohshin told Hindustan Times that she eventually booked an Uber and left the place. The Rapido driver canceled the ride himself.
