The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the most well-known and widely viewed Twenty20 cricket competitions in the world. The league’s popularity has skyrocketed since it was founded in 2008. With millions of viewers tuning in from all around the world, the IPL has become a worldwide phenomenon.
However, what made this series more interesting was the rivalry between the teams and the players. Since its inception, spectators have always witnessed and enjoyed intense rivalries. These rivalries have grown to be a crucial component of what makes the IPL so appealing and exciting.
While these rivalries give us a lot of gossip fodder, they have a very bad effect on the players. Due to this, these rivalries sometimes go off the field. Something similar recently happened when former Indian captain Virat Kohli engaged in a verbal spat with Afghanistan player Naveen Ul-Haq and former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir.
While Gambhir didn’t share any reaction online, Naveen Ul-Haq shared a cryptic post on his social media account. Despite the fact that he didn’t mention anyone, spectators were quick to guess what he actually meant.
What happened between Virat Kohli and Naveen Ul-Haq?
For the uninitiated, Naveen Ul-Haq, who was batting with Amit Mishra, and Virat Kohli had a fierce confrontation during the 17th over of LSG’s innings. It all happened when a few LSG squad members were not pleased with Kohli’s emotional response to the subsequent dismissals.
Additionally, Kohli appeared to be visibly upset by Naveen’s remarks, to which the latter responded. Even after the game was over, the verbal argument between the two players persisted despite efforts to break it up by the on-field officials and other players.
The matter doesn’t end here. When LSG captain KL Rahul urged Naveen to have a cordial conversation with Kohli, the pacer flatly declined and left. Additionally, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir subsequently engaged in a heated verbal spat with Virat Kohli.

Did Naveen Ul-Haq indirectly take a dig at Virat Kohli?
After the intense on-field confrontation between players of the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants during the 43rd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League, the tension between the two teams has now spilled over to social media. In the latest development, Naveen-ul-Haq, the left-arm pacer of the LSG team, used his official social media handle to indirectly mock RCB’s star batsman, Virat Kohli.
Taking to his Instagram story, he wrote,
You get what you deserve and that’s how it should be and that’s how it goes.
Some people paint Naveen as the victim, others take Kohli’s side
His response has gone viral on social media, with people giving mixed reactions to it. While some people paint Naveen as the victim, others take Kohli’s side. Due to all this, Naveen has also become a victim of vicious trolling on social media. As a result, he disabled his comments section on posts.
The IPL fined the two individuals 100% of their match money as a penalty for their behavior. As a result of his verbal altercation with Virat, Naveen was also penalized for 50% of his match expenses.
