The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, is continuing its dream run at the box office. With its acceptance and collecting, the film has set a precedent. The picture is just growing better with each passing day, as seen by its 9th-day box office haul.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film’s second Saturday, or Day 9, had its highest-ever single-day collection and crossed the 20 crore milestone in a single day. The film grossed an astounding Rs. 24.80 crores on Saturday. The film has now grossed a whopping Rs. 141.25 crores worldwide.

Despite conflicting reviews from critics, the film’s critics applauded it for drawing attention to the forced expulsion of Kashmiri Hindus from the Kashmir valley. Throughout the film, the storyline switches between the present day (2021) and memories of 1989–1990.
The Kashmir Files is based on the actual narrative of the massacre of Kashmiri Hindus by fundamentalist Islamists in the Kashmir valley in 1990, as well as the forced exile of Kashmiri Hindus that followed. It also serves as a reminder of the valley’s dreadful militaristic nature, as the title says. As shown in the film, numerous Kashmiri Pandit victims were slaughtered, while countless more were forced to flee their homes and relocate to other regions of India.
The only film that has ignited a national controversy is The Kashmir Files. For the first time in Indian cinematic history, a film has sparked such widespread interest despite the absence of major performers or new marketing. It’s also worth noting that several performers have expressed opposition to the picture, while others have shown passive support.

However, political groups, most notably the governing Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), have come out in explicit favour of the film
Even the Prime Minister has expressed his support for the film. Opposition leaders, on the other hand, have labelled the movie as propaganda or half-truth by the ruling party.

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti slams Centre’s relentless promotion of The Kashmir Files
Instead of mending past wounds and fostering a conducive environment between the two groups, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader said that the Centre is “deliberately tearing them apart.” Mehbooba Mufti remarked on Twitter,

“The manner in which GOI is aggressively promoting Kashmir Files & is weaponising pain of Kashmiri Pandits makes their ill intention obvious. Instead of healing old wounds & creating a conducive atmosphere between the two communities, they are deliberately tearing them apart.”
