Mandana Karimi lock upp

Kangana Ranaut’s recent OTT debut with Ekta Kapoor’s Lock Upp reality programme has created quite a stir, with competitors disclosing their deepest, darkest secrets to stay in the game. Let me tell you all that this show features some of the most controversial people such as comedian Munawar Faruqui who was jailed once, internet sensation Azma Fallah, actress Nisha Rawal who was in a news because of her feud with her husband, Instagram sensation Anjali Arora, etc.

Among them is Mandana Karimi, an Iranian actress, and a model-turned-actress based in India who recently hit headlines with her jaw-dropping secret on judgement day.

The Lock Upp episode Judgement Day had an unusual combination of events in which Kangana stunned her jail colleagues in many ways. First and foremost, in terms of elimination, wild card entry Vineet Kakkar has been ‘locked out’ for being the show’s most unproductive competitor.

Now, let’s speak about the show’s most emotional moment. Mandana Karimi won the buzzer round during the last moments of eviction, allowing her to reveal a deep secret in order to save herself.

Mandana Karimi discussed her abortion in a recent episode of the controversial reality programme Lock Upp

She was asked to divulge a personal secret, to which the actress said that it was while she was dealing with her previous relationship with Gaurav Gupta that she began dating an ace director. However, she didn’t reveal his identity.

She then started crying as she revealed her connection with him and how she became pregnant. Everyone on the panel, including Kangana Ranaut, the show’s presenter, was seen becoming upset while listening to Mandana’s secret. Mandana said,

“The time that I was struggling with my whole situation…my separation, I did have a secret relationship. My relationship was with a very well-known director who talks about women’s rights. He’s an idol to many people. We planned a pregnancy…and when it happened, he completely backed off and his reason was that he did not think he was emotionally ready to become a father again. He already has a child. Suddenly he was like ‘I did not believe you could get pregnant so easily at the age of 33’. We then went to my best friend’s house because he said we should discuss with them as they are like my parents.”

Mandana continued the talk by saying that she had attempted unsuccessfully to persuade him to understand her dilemma. As a result, she was forced to abort her kid, which had utterly shattered her. She went on to say,

“When we reached there, he started talking to my friend and saying he was not ready. He had planned the whole thing to get my friends to convince me to have an abortion. I then apologised to my friends and got back to the house. When we went back, he started saying ‘You should have understood, my ex is not over me and there is a public case against me’. I had to take a decision because I come from a broken home. I took the step and I did have an abortion. I do not want to name that person because he does not deserve to be known by his name. And it just destroyed so much for me.”

Let me tell you that Mandana Karimi, who came to popularity as the actress in Kya Kool Hain Hum 3, had a difficult love life. She is now a competitor on the popular reality programme Lock Upp, where she has been shown making some really private personal revelations. She has previously spoken out about her ex-husband, Gaurav Gupta, and her allegedly violent marriage.

For the uninitiated, Mandana Karimi married her long-time partner, Gaurav Gupta, in a court ceremony on January 25, 2017. They married on March 5, 2017, at Mumbai’s JW Marriott, after performing all the rites of a conventional Hindu wedding.  However, the actress filed a lawsuit of domestic abuse and mental torture against her husband, Gaurav, only six months after their wedding. Finally, after four years of living apart, the couple was divorced in 2021.

Karimi has previously accused producer Mahendra Dhariwal of abusing her and calling her insults on the set.
