Retired ACP Bhanupratap Barge, who was traveling with his family from Dubai to Pune, shared his disappointment over the mismanagement at Pune Airport on Wednesday night.
“We were happy when the flight landed ahead of schedule at 9:40 pm, but the luggage only started appearing around 11:15 pm.”
However, he added,
“Many passengers were left stranded with no information on screens, no messages, and no assistance. Even after we collected our luggage, it took us 20 minutes for a cab to receive us at the pickup point at Terminal 2.”
The entire experience highlighted the lack of preparedness and support at the airport.

Passanger shares his distressing experience
Girish Deshpande, a member of Aundh Vikas Mandal, shared his disappointment over the disorganized handling of passengers and baggage at Pune Airport following his return from Dubai.
Traveling with his wife after visiting their children, he noted that despite the flight arriving earlier than scheduled, the experience was far from smooth.
“It took over 15 minutes for the aerobridge to dock after landing, and the real ordeal began when passengers had to wait endlessly for their luggage.”
Deshpande described how the luggage only started appearing on the conveyor belt after 11 pm, over an hour after their flight landed at 9:40 pm. While he managed to retrieve his bags by 11:10 pm, he observed that several passengers were left waiting for nearly two hours to claim their belongings.
The chaos didn’t end there, as the traffic situation outside Terminal 2 added to the frustration. According to him, there was a complete lack of proper traffic management, making it difficult for passengers to find their way out.

Malfunctioning of the baggage screening machine caused long delays
The nearly two-hour delay in baggage claim at Pune Airport was reportedly caused by a malfunction in the baggage screening machine operated by airport authorities. This technical issue left hundreds of passengers waiting impatiently as their luggage started appearing on the conveyor belts much later than expected.
IndiGo Airlines confirmed the delay, stating that the problem originated with the airport’s baggage screening equipment, which disrupted the usual process.
When asked about the matter, Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke expressed his lack of awareness regarding the issue. He speculated that the delay might have been caused by customs inspections or could have been the airline staff’s responsibility. However, neither the airline nor the airport authorities provided timely assistance or clear communication to the passengers, leaving them frustrated and confused.
The situation highlighted a critical gap in coordination and response, leaving many travelers with an unpleasant experience. The series of delays and mismanagement that have been happening on the part of IndiGo are making people unhappy with the airline.
