A once-in-144-year event, the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 has attracted global interest. Interestingly, the gigantic gathering’s appeal is increased by the presence of distinctive ascetics, Naga, Sadhus, Yog Gurus, and spiritual leaders. One of them, 36-year-old Abhey Singh, also referred to as IIT Baba, has gained widespread attention. Singh, an IIT Bombay graduate with a degree in aerospace engineering, abandoned his successful career to pursue spirituality and join the Juna Akhada.

Known for using diagrams and graphics to explain difficult spiritual topics, IIT Baba’s distinct style has enthralled devotees. However, in his recent video, he sparked debates by criticizing the idea of considering parents to be gods and labeling it a “Kalyug trap.”

IIT Baba’s tough stance on the notion of ‘parents as gods’ goes viral

In a recently circulated video, IIT Baba talked about the notion of taking ‘parents as god.’ He said Kalyugi parents, who have endured generational trauma, passed it on to their children. That’s why they do not let their children do things a different way. The video has been with caption,

“This satyugi concept of treating parents as God is misused by demented Kaliyugi parents to pass on the generational trauma and to not let their kids do things differently – jo tumhara iss janam main maa-baap hain, wo kya pata kya honge agle janam main, ek aatma ka safar sirf uska hota hai – nahi to maa-baap, patni beta sab kuch tyag dene wale Buddha bhagwan nahi hote, bhagwan hote hue bhi apne maa-baap ko Jail main chodkar raas leela karne wale Krishna Bhagwan nahi hote, Prahlad ke bulane par baap ko chir kar faad dene wale Narsimha bhagwan nahi hote – jab maa baap ahankar aur swarth se yukt hokar apne aap ko bhagwan manne lagte hain, tabhi Narsimha bhagwan aakar unka ahamkar ka vinash karte hain”

In the opening of the reel, IIT Baba says “namaskaram” and states that he would return to the same subject, which is the parental trap, which has a significant impact on Bharat. He said,

Most of these sayings like meko papa ke liye ghar banana hai, people take it so proudly. Maine yeh kar dia mummy papa ke liye yeh karna hai. Lot of this is perpetuated because of so called spiritual teachings also. They are like maa baap hi bhagwan hai. Maa baap bhagwan nai hai yaar. Maa baap ko bhi bhagwan ne banaya hai. Matlab kya hai yeh? Logo ka dekhne ka alag tarika hai. Satyug wala concept tum kalyug mei use kar rahe hoh basically.

IIT Baba further explained that since parents are not like gods, the Satyug notion cannot be applied in Kalyug. He added that parents in India treat their children as though they were horses who were raised to do just work. IIT Baba went on to say:

Yeh soch hoti hai. Maa baap bhagwan kuch nai bhai kalyug ka trap hai yeh tumhare liye. O tumhara iss janam main maa-baap hain, wo kya pata kya honge agle janam main, ek aatma ka safar sirf uska hota hai – nahi to maa-baap, patni beta sab kuch tyag dene wale Buddha bhagwan nahi hote.
