Pakistan’s sports content creator tried to take a jibe at Harbhajan Singh, ‘This is why you have security issues….’
The cricket passion sometimes spills over into social media, where exchanges between supporters can become heated. With the Champions Trophy set to be hosted by Pakistan in February 2025, tensions have risen again, particularly due to India’s decision not to participate in the tournament because of security concerns. Harbhajan Singh, the former Indian cricketer, has been vocal about his support for the Indian team’s decision, which has drawn criticism and abuse from some fans and even content cricketers in Pakistan.
Harbhajan Singh’s outspoken stance on the security issues surrounding the Champions Trophy has made him a target for some Pakistani fans. Despite the backlash, he has not shied away from responding firmly to criticism. One such incident occurred when a Pakistani content creator posted an image of Harbhajan and mocked him for conceding four consecutive sixes to Shahid Afridi during India’s 2006 tour of Pakistan.
The post sarcastically suggested that this on-field incident was the real reason behind Harbhajan’s advocacy against traveling to Pakistan, hinting at an underlying fear of facing similar humiliation. The Pakistani content creator captioned his as we quote,

India’s participation in 2025 Champions Trophy still uncertain amidst ‘security concerns’
India’s participation in the 2025 Champions Trophy remains uncertain following the announcement of Pakistan as the tournament’s host. The decision has sparked significant debate and concern within Indian cricketing circles, with many voices opposing the team’s travel to Pakistan due to security issues.
The safety of players is a top priority, and the memory of past security incidents, such as the 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, continues to influence India’s stance. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is particularly concerned about the safety of its players and is exploring alternatives to ensure their well-being.
In response to these concerns, the BCCI has proposed a hybrid model for the tournament. Under this model, India’s matches would be relocated to a neutral venue, such as Sri Lanka or Dubai, where security conditions are more favorable. However, no official decision has been confirmed yet. Only time will tell what will happen eventually.
