Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh retaliated over a racist remark from former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal on Team India’s Arshdeep Singh. Akmal issued an apology later for his controversial comment on religion. The India Vs Pakistan match in New York at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 was thrilling. India defeated their archrivals with 6 runs. During the match, the final over was handed over to Arshdeep Singh.
When the match was commencing, Kamran Akmal was a member of a panel on ARY News. They were analyzing the IND Vs PAK clash for the spectators. During the show, Akmal predicted fewer chances for Team India’s win. While commenting on Arshdeep’s performance, he expressed that he would not undermine Arshdeep’s capability.

Akmal made a ‘Sikh’ joke at Arshdeep in the video which went viral on social media
His racist remark didn’t sit well with people of the Sikh community.
In the video, Akmal remarked,
“Kuch bhi ho sakta hai… 12 baj gaye hai (Anything can happen. It is already 12).”

The video caught the attention of Harbhajan Singh, the angry spinner took to social media and taught Akmal a lesson
He took to social media and bashed the former Pakistan wicket-keeper batter by teaching him a history lesson. Harbhajan reposted the video on the social media platform, X and said,

Later, Akmal apologized on social media saying he never intended to hurt anyone
Reacting to the dispute over his racist comment, Akmal apologized on social media addressing Harbhajan and the Sikh community, and said his remarks never intended to hurt anyone and deeply regrets what he said.
Akmal wrote,
“I deeply regret my recent comments and sincerely apologize to @harbhajan_singh and the Sikh community. My words were inappropriate and disrespectful. I have the utmost respect for Sikhs all over the world and never intended to hurt anyone. I am truly sorry.”

IND vs PAK T20 World Cup match
During the India vs. Pakistan match, PAK won the toss and put India to bat. In the first innings, India performed miserably, and set a small target of 119 runs. But in the second innings when the bowlers took the lead, the men in blue made a strong comeback.
Bumrah (3/14) and Hardik Pandya (2/24) got vital wickets of skipper Babar Azam (13), Fakhar Zaman (13), Iftikhar Ahmed (5), and Shadab Khan (4), which put pressure on Pakistan. With 18 runs required in the final over, Naseem Shah (10*) tried his best to win it for Pakistan; however, Arshdeep Singh (1/31) didn’t let that happen and in the end, Pakistan fell short by six runs, and lost to the Indian team.
