Zoomcar is an Indian carsharing platform founded in 2013. It is headquartered in Bengaluru. They provide their services in more than 34 cities. In 2023, Zoomcar formed a new entity, Zoomcar Holdings Inc. They are a sell-drive rental company where you can select any from a variety of cars depending on your budget and needs. Zoomcar is mostly used during vacations to rent a car. In Bengaluru, a man used their services and had a bitter experience. He was so annoyed and upset by their service that he called them a fraud and insisted others to not use Zoomcar services.
A man from Bengaluru recently shared his dreadful experience with Zoomcar and called them a ‘Straight-Up Scam’
A man from Bengaluru, Adithya Venkatesan shared his unpleasant experience with Zoomcar. He took to social media platform, X and said that the company “defrauds customers”. He also added that they are not accountable for their deeds and slammed the brand for “collecting money.”

His post on X went viral. Adithya titled it “The Zoomcar Scam” while accusing the company. His post garnered several comments from other users and also prompted a reply from Zoomcar. Adithya Venkatesan wrote on X,
“Zoomcar has a crazy way to defraud customers, and it’s straight-up a scam. Here’s how it works. Once you pay up, they add the caveat of verification. Not before. AFTER you pay. And if the verification fails, there’s no way to get in touch with anyone and resolve it. This is despite having a Driving License, Aadhaar and all the relevant documents”
He also added,
“It’s a solid dark pattern that makes Zoomcar ‘collect’ money and not be accountable for what ensues. Then, they just disappear. And, you can’t get this money refunded either”
Venkatesan also called their tech “inferior” and slammed Zoomcar’s customer support. He called the company “irresponsible” and that they do not care about their customers. The social media user expressed that their service is the “worst” he has ever seen. He lastly concluded by writing,
“Don’t ever choose Zoomcar”

I’ve had a pathetic experience once. The car was just not there and there was no one to contact. Customer care didn’t help at all.

Using credit card chargeback should provide some protection from this scam.

Moved away from it and realized that it’s actually pretty easy to find driving rentals in every city. A lot cheaper and hassle free without a clunky app interface

Both times I used their services, I had a pleasant – indeed, excellent experience. I was unable to comment on their customer call service as I have not needed to use their phone or chat facility, but the quality and delivery of the automobile were satisfactory.

I had a tyre burst on the Yamuna expressway because the tyre of the car was absolutely worn out and the stepney was useless too. And it took an average of 30 minutes each time to get in touch with zoomcar and they’d disconnect in 20 secs and repeat. Never again

Zoomcar is a TOTAL SCAM.
Had their vehicle break down during driving and they promised me on call that not only will they collect car but also refund me the cab fees for the whole day!
But 1 day later I see a Rs. 11000 pending amount on Zoomcar and customer service is pathetic!— Onkar (@onkar_borade_10) April 10, 2024

Booked a car for 9 days, got a car which broke within 30km, they kept me waiting for a repair road side assistance. Then they cancelled, calling them is a hassle can’t talk to anyone. They promised refund after vehicle inspection, we arranged another car and continued trip.
