Atlee Responds Like A Boss After Kapil Sharma Shames Him For His Looks

Atlee is a renowned director-producer who has popular directorial projects under his name including Theri, Mersal, and Bigil, which were box-office hits. He ventured into Bollywood with the super hit film Jawan featuring Shahrukh Khan which emerged as his highest-grossing movie. Atlee’s upcoming project, Baby John, stars Varun Dhawan.

Atlee graced the sets of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Saturday. The popular Netflix comedy show is hosted by Kapil Sharma. A segment from the episode between Atlee and Kapil Sharma went viral for all the wrong reasons.

In the episode, Kapil subtly insulted the director Atlee’s looks

One question from Kapil to Atlee has sparked controversies as netizens believe that the host took a dig at the director’s look. Kapil discussed how Atlee being quite young had already reached great heights as a producer-director. Kapil further continued and asked Atlee,

“Kabhi aapke sath aisa hua hai ki aap kisi star se milne gaye ho first time aur usko laga hi na ho ki aap Atlee ho, usne kaha where is Atlee?” (Has it ever happened that you went to meet a star and they didn’t recognise you? Have they asked where is Atlee?)”

Atlee’s response to the degrading question won the audience’s hearts

Atlee’s witty response to the disrespectful question led the studio audience to break out in applause. It also captured the hearts of netizens. At first, Atlee looked a little taken aback by the question, but calmly responded,

“Sir, in a way I understood your question. I’ll try to answer. I am actually very thankful to AR Murugadoss sir because he produced my first film. He asked for the script, but he didn’t see how I am looking and whether I am capable of it or not, but he loved my narration. I think world should see that. By appearance we should not judge, by heart you should judge.”

Netizens slammed Kapil Sharma for the question and accused him of body-shaming

However, netizens are up in arms about one segment, wherein they feel host, Kapil subtly insulted Atlee’s looks. On his part, Atlee seems to have won hearts with his befitting response.

Meanwhile, many people defended Kapil by saying that his question did not concern his looks, as Atlee is young, he meant to say that do people take him seriously.

Atlee also defended Archana Puran Singh on the show

In addition, Kapil Sharma also took a dig at Archana Puran Singh in the same episode. Atlee supported her and requested Kapil not to make fun of her. He called Archana the ‘saviour’ of the show for him.

It so happened that Kapil introduced the director to her and said,

“Her name is Archana Puran Singh because she is a great admirer of Daku Mohan Singh. There was a man in his gang inspired by which her name was kept”

When everyone burst into laughter, Atlee said,

“Don’t pull her leg, she is the only saviour of the show for me. Whenever she laughs, I am going to laugh, because I know nothing, I am waiting for her cue.”

Archana immediately responded to him saying,

“Well said Atlee, you and I are a team now.”

Atlee Jawan in 2023 shattered all records at the box office and went on to become one of the highest-grossing films of Indian cinema with over Rs 1000 crore collection. His latest Baby John, which is scheduled to release on December 25, is an adaptation of his Tamil film, Theri. Varun plays the lead in Baby John, the cast includes Wamiqa Gabbi, Keethy Suresh, and Jackie Shroff in prominent roles.
