1-liter-oil-missing-in-blinkit-order

Consumer behavior has been completely transformed in urban India and around the world by the explosive growth of fast-delivery businesses like Blinkit, Swiggy, Instamart, Zepto, and Dunzo. These businesses guarantee quick delivery—often in 10–20 minutes—of meals, groceries, and necessities. As expected, the ease of use and time-saving advantages have drawn a sizable user base. However, this emerging sector is not without obstacles. Companies in this sector deal with fraud cases and logistical difficulties every day. This leads to the erosion of the brand image and damage to the company’s customer base.

Recently, Blinkit came under fire for not delivering “free 1-liter oil” with the order despite promoting it. After a customer raised his voice on social media, the company had to respond to this logistical mishap with a proper refund.

A customer raised their voice against Blinkit for not delivering free stuff that comes along with order

Recently, a Bengaluru resident exposed what they claim are “fraudulent” tactics by Blinkit on social media. The consumer talked about his experience using the app to order oil as part of a promotion that offered a free extra liter. But when it arrived, the complimentary one-liter oil that had been promised was gone.

Under the username “Adventurous-Parsnip3,” the customer posted their ordeal on Reddit’s Bengaluru community. In his post, he wrote,

Ordered 5L + 1L oil from blinkit. Advertised as 5L + 1L on the app for Rs. 1072. Delivery agent delivers only 5L. We raise a complaint with Blinkit and request either give us the full order or take back the 5L.

Additionally, the customer noted that Blinkit’s internal policy does not impose any obligations on its clients. He added,

They now say that they will give a Rs. 100 coupon against an item that was 1072/6=Rs. 178 because it’s the maximum that their policy allows. They further claim that 1L oil was free and hence no value can be ascribed to it. What is the recourse available against such frauds?

Got a Rs 180 refund from Blinkit after raising the issues with @BlinkitCares on X. Apparently they are doing me a big favour as a ‘one-time special permission’ to go beyond the system. Oh, I feel special today.
