Travis Head Celebration After Taking Rishabh Pant Wicket

In the ongoing fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Australian middle-order batter Travis Head took Rishabh Pant’s wicket on day five of the fourth Test against India. The Australian middle-order batter grabbed eyeballs for his strange celebration after that. His celebration went viral on social media and garnered mixed reactions from the netizens.

This happened in the 59th over of the innings when he dismissed the difficult Rishabh Pant on the final day of the Boxing Day Test. Mitchell Marsh took the catch meters inside the fence and broke the uncompromising stand of 88 between Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal. It was also the first wicket for Australia since the pre-lunch session.

After dismissing Pant, Head shocked everyone with his strangest celebrations that were termed vulgar

Pant was heavily criticized for throwing away his wicket in the first innings for his imperfect ramp shot. India didn’t lose any wickets between lunch and tea as they looked to draw the historic game at the iconic venue.

However, as soon as Head broke the partnership with his part-time off-spin, his “unique celebration”, was called to be ‘obscene and vulgar’ by many Indian fans.

Travis Head’s strange celebration

Head made a gesture by making a circle using his thumb and index finger and pushed the other index finger in and out of the circle. Many believe that his celebration was a response to that hostile treatment earlier in the day when he was booed by the Indian supporters while fielding near the boundary ropes.

However, one of the Channel 7 commentators later disclosed that he only referring to what he had done after picking up 4 for 10 against Sri Lanka in 2022. His gesture showcased dipping his finger in a glass full of ice. Later in the match, India went from 121 for 2 to 140 for 7.
