Here’s Why A Five-Year-Old Statue Of Ram Lalla Has Been Chosen For The Ram Mandir In Ayodhya

The Ayodhya Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha is on January 22, the main idol of Lord Rama that has been selected for worship is a five-year-old child form of Lord Rama. But why a five-year-old form was considered the idol of Lord Ram at the Ram Mandir? And what is the reason behind it?

Well, Ayodhya is the birthplace of Lord Ram, so it makes sense that his child form is considered to be present in the temple there. The idea was suggested by several officials of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. There was a lot of discussion on whether the idol should be a one-and-a-half-year-old child crawling on his knees or older than that.

Many people of the Trust wanted the main statue of Lord Ram should be a full statue of him holding a bow and arrow so that the youth can relate to him and feelings like bravery are instilled in their minds. It would inspire the youth to protect religion and society.

It is rare to find a child Ram statue in India but this will mark the first Ram Lalla idol in the temple.

What will be the main idol of Lord Ram in Ayodhya’s Ram temple?

The primary idol of Lord Ram in the Ayodhya Ram temple will be a 51-inch statue of five-year-old Ram Lalla. It will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The consecration ceremony will take place in Ayodhya’s Ram temple on January 22. Shri Ram will be seated on a lotus in the form of a 5-year-old child. The complexion of the statue will be dark and the height of the idol along with the lotus flower will be 8 feet.

Why is the 5-year-old child statue of Ram Lalla being installed at the Ram Temple?

• The primary reason why Ram Lalla is being installed in Ayodhya is obviously because the city is the birthplace of Lord Ram.
• But why a five-year-old form? In Hinduism, children who are five or younger are seen as innocent. According to scholars like Chanakya, the mistakes of a child under 5 are forgiven because they are considered innocent. After turning five, kids are considered to be capable of understanding things. Hindu scriptures celebrate the childhood of Lord Ram till he reaches the age of five years.
• Therefore, the five-year-old form of the idol of Lord Rama appears very convenient and accurate in representing his innocent form.

Why is the statue holding a bow and arrow?

It was agreed that the idol of Lord Rama would have a childlike face and would hold a bow and arrow. The baby face will awaken the feeling of motherly love and ask for blessings and boons.

Karnataka sculptor Arun Yogiraj has sculpted this statue. It is being said that this idol is magnificent and seeing it will create a tremendous feeling of devotion in the devotees.

Why is the statue 51 inches long?

At present time, in India, an average five-year-old child is usually about 43 to 45 inches tall. However, people were generally taller during Lord Ram’s time. Number 51 is considered auspicious, so the idol’s height is set at 51 inches.

Why is the statue made of black stone?

Some people wondered why the statue was made of black stone. The black statue of Ram Lalla is made from Shaligram stone, from which the idols of Gods and Goddesses of Hindu religion are made. Shaligrams are black colored smooth, oval stones. It is a type of fossil stone. This stone is considered a sacred stone. According to religious texts, Shaligram is the idol form of Lord Vishnu. Shaligram is usually collected from the bottom or banks of the
holy river.

Significance of Kakabhushundi

Kakabhushundi is depicted as a devotee of Lord Rama, who tells the story of the Ramayana to Garuda in the form of a crow. It is believed that he is still alive and present on earth as they are considered Chiranjeevis.

Kakabhushundi says,

“Now and then I go to Ayodhyapuri. I feel happy seeing the children play there. I go there and watch the birth festival and stay there for 05 years out of greed for it (in Lord’s Shishu Leela).” “Shri Ramchandraji in the form of a child is my favorite deity, whose
body has the beauty of billions of Kamdevs. Oh, Garuda! By seeing the face of my Lord, I make my eyes successful”

Kakabhushundi was actually a member of the Shudra class of Ayodhya. He was once cursed by Shiva to become a snake. Later, after his pleas, Shiva reduced the punishment and said that after many births, he would be born as a Brahmin and become a devotee of Ram – (Kakabhushundi). But later again he was cursed to become a crow.

Kakabhushundi saw Ram as a child in Ayodhya

It is said that Kabhushundi saw Ram as a child in Ayodhya. When Lord Ram was young, he seemed a normal child, he didn’t perform many miracles then. But once in his childhood, he made Mother Kaushalya see the universe inside his mouth. His second extraordinary act was breaking Shiva’s bow in Sita Swayamvar. He remained a normal human being throughout his life.
