How did Shibani Dandekar become an IPL anchor?
In an interview with India Today, Shibani once revealed that her friend had recommended her name when Sony was looking for new IPL anchors. One of the top executives from the show got in touch with her. Shibani recalled:
“When I got to know that they liked my audition, I was really nervous. It’s not like I did not want the job but I was wondering how I’d do any justice to it! I was always passionate about cricket but to talk about the game in front of cameras was another thing.”

When Shibani’s dad got to know about the offer, he did not want Shibani to say no as an answer. She shared that initially, she was scared and nervous and did a lot of research and gathered information on the players before she was set to go live. It was not an easy task. Shibani stated,
“Before I started, I wrote down the names of players, their teams, their captains and their coaches and stuck them on boards around the house. So every time I walked past one of them, I could revise and remember. It wasn’t easy.”
