When you book a ride from ride-hailing giants like Uber, you naturally expect a comfortable and clean experience. However, encountering a ride that is unhygienic and falls below basic standards can leave you feeling disappointed. This is exactly what happened to a man who recently shared his unsatisfactory experience on Twitter. His tale quickly caught attention, prompting Uber India to respond.
Man Criticizes Uber for Poorly Maintained Cab in India
A man recently shared his disappointing experience with ride-hailing giant Uber, highlighting the poor condition of vehicles in India. Rohit Arora took to the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to post a picture of a shabby and poorly maintained cab that he had booked via Uber.

Frustrated by the unhygienic state of the vehicle, he compared it to something that seemed to have come straight out of a “junkyard.”
While tagging Uber India and Uber Support, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of quality standards in the company’s Indian operations.
“Uber has no standard in India. It looks like the car came from junkyard.”
In his subsequent posts, Mr. Arora clarified that he wasn’t expecting luxury but simply basic hygiene and cleanliness in the cab. Despite owning a car, he often opts for Uber’s Priority or Premiere rides during emergencies, expecting a standard level of service. However, he felt let down by Uber’s lack of inspection and oversight of its fleet.

“I’ll answer all the questions in one tweet. I have my own car but many times I have to take calls so I don’t drive.
I get uber because I have a business account and I do book premiere mostly. Sometimes I have to book Uber priority because of urgency (Thats where I got this car).”
Comparing this to his possible experiences abroad, Mr. Arora remarked that Uber ensures quality standards in most countries, but not in India. He emphasized that maintaining cleanliness isn’t about money but about making a small, consistent effort is something he hoped Uber would prioritize.
“Yes it is the issue with India but it is also Uber responsibility to inspect the vehicles and check what are they allowing. It is pretty common around the world except India. Since I am talking about different countries thats why uber (not Ola or Blu).”

Had a similar experience in Bangalore once. The cab interior was dusty and smelled awful. When I asked the driver, he said it was a rental replacement from Uber since his own car was under maintenance.

I also had a bad experience with uber as the driver did not go through the requested route and threatened that he will intentionally drive slower even when I need to reach early and used foul language . Also raise a complaint but Uber did not do anything.

Absolutely !! The service , the cars, the drivers are disgusting. Booked a premier by paying 100 extra for a short ride. Got a car with more than 5L km riden. The car was so dirty, public bus could have been better.
Gave 1 star rating, got threatening calls from driver…

You should be thankful that you are getting a car. Here I’m waiting for 30 minutes, followed by driver going in the opposite direction, and not picking up phone, when i cancel, Uber threatens me for possible charges.

My experience of Uber in india – guaranteed grubby seats, soiled carpets, dented exterior, only place in the world where drivers accept the ride, make you wait for good 15min and then cancel? To top ot up they never seem to carry any change.
