Triangle Cycle Wheels

Very recently, an inventor took the internet by storm after he came up with the idea of square wheels for his bicycle adventures. Why do people come up with such ideas? Because we most definitely can, that’s probably the most perfect reason why we do something. The engineer Sergii Gordieiev has set out yet again to make a cycle with triangle wheels for his YouTube channel, “The Q” in which he puts up creative and bizarre inventions.

Sergii Gordieiev is an intellectual who has always enjoyed making bizarre and creative yet functional inventions, mostly related to bicycles. It is not something he started recently, in the past also, he has tinkered with a bicycle that could ride on ice. He has also worked on various projects like making the world’s smallest bicycle.

His newest idea of adding triangle wheels to his bicycle has impressed the general masses and his followers. Just like the bizarre and unconventional project of making square wheels, triangle-shaped wheels are also very much unusual. This has made his name resurface on social media once again.

How does bicycle with triangle wheels works?

If you are wondering how it could be possible to make a functional cycle out of triangle wheels, then you must know that Sergii used his knowledge of engineering and used Reuleaux triangles as his main ammo. What are Reuleaux triangles? Reuleaux triangles are simply a “curved triangle with constant width, the simplest and best-known curve of constant width other than the circle.”

This puts forth the idea that these triangles have a better chance of working on the road than the square wheels he invented before. Like any other bike, the three-wheeled bicycle is also ridden by pedalling and keeping the wheels in balance. At first glance, you will probably find it absurd as the triangle wheels seem like they would have no chance of moving safely.

In the square wheels, it was much of the channel around the tyres that were rotating but the triangular wheels actually rotate. The bike can be ridden with almost any up-and-down motion, by slightly curving each side of the triangular wheels and building articulated arms that easily allow the centre of each wheel to move up and down.

The rider shared his experience and told that he felt a slight increase in riding speed every time the triangular wheels moved from the apexes to the flat sides. Otherwise, it felt like a very drivable model and in fact, would probably be quite adept at navigating rough terrain.
