Quick commerce platforms have revolutionized the buying process for people. Companies promising deliveries within 10 to 30 minutes have transformed consumer behavior, particularly in urban areas where speed and convenience have become major priorities. Firms such as Zepto, Blinkit, Instamart, etc., put immense efforts into making deliveries faster and more convenient for customers using dark stores and logistics infrastructure. People have enjoyed their services since they have made their lives easier by not having to go out for shopping anymore.
However, while expanding product categories to include costlier devices, one must also be concerned about maintaining their authenticity and proper packaging. This issue is particularly relevant following the recent controversy in which comedian Vir Das released a viral video claiming that Zepto delivered him a fake Apple Watch that he ordered from quick commerce platform Zepto for Rs 50,000 for his shoot. Now, Zepto has also responded to the claims.

In the video, Das was puzzled by the package and pointed out various aspects that made him assume that the item was not real. He stated that the watch had been ordered quickly for a shoot and that the crew had spent around Rs 50,000 for it. In his post, Vir Das wrote,
Okay. Am I wrong, do all apple watches look like this or is @ZeptoNow @zeptocares being shady with china copies? By the way their customer device agent on the phone said there’s nothing they could do. Full scam. We needed one quick for a shoot. They charged us 50k.

Hey, This isn’t the experience we aim to deliver, and I’d like to get this sorted for you. Could you please share your order details and contact number via DM? Once we have that, we’ll look into it right away.

Why would someone order such expensive stuff from Zepto out of all the options available?

Haha bro even if you did manage to get a real watch from Zetpto – we need to have a chat about optimising your spending strategy

It happened to me multiple times when they delivered fake products and their customer support doesn’t care about what you say, they will just close the conversation. Uninstalled Zepto and everyone should do so.
These 24 year olds founders have no integrity and maybe they are…

I needed the watch to track ECG for a medical diagnosis of unknown spells. Even though it was way expensive, I got it on EMIs from Apple Store. Always rely on Apple Stores for such products and not even Apple resellers.

Vir Das shares an update regarding his order
Hours later, Vir Das posted an update, stating that Zepto had contacted him after the incident received notice online and had sent a real Apple Watch as a replacement. He also stated that the purportedly counterfeit item had been returned and that the company was working with Apple’s team to determine the origins of the inauthentic goods.
Update. @ZeptoNow has been in touch post social media, and a real apple watch has been delivered. China maal sent back. I don’t know why this is on the news 🤷♂️ but since it is…want to clarify what I told the zepto exec. Not the drivers fault. pic.twitter.com/nCnOkNJVfj
