TMKOC Actress Palak Sindhwani Alleges Asit Modi Threatened Her, Told He Would Disappear Her

The TV program Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) is one of the longest-running in India. Since its 2008 premiere, the show has gained popularity among viewers of all ages and has become a cultural phenomenon, partly because of its accessible material, humor geared toward families, and constructive social messages.

However, during the past few years, TMKOC has been on the news in all the wrong ways. Recently, many performers in the show voiced their complaints about the unpleasant work environment on the sets. Some also accused the filmmakers of both bullying and failing to pay their bills. Now, actress Palak Sindhwani claimed that the show’s producers stopped her from quitting the show even though she was experiencing medical issues.

Palak Sindhwani alleges ‘TMKOC’ makers refused her resignation amid health struggles

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Palak Sindhwani disclosed that she had first asked the producers for permission to leave the show in December 2023. She informed them that she needed to take a break due to a medical illness. However, since another cast member was in talks with them about leaving simultaneously, they refused to let her go. She said,

I have had certain medical issues. I don’t want to go into details of that. My doctor advised me to take less stress and asked me to maintain a good lifestyle where I get good sleep and the work is light. But here anything happens at any time. I was planning to quit the show. In December 2023, for the first time, I told their production head that I want to quit. After hearing this, he said, ‘No, not now. Now another co-actor is leaving.’

Palak went on to say that her co-star, who was considering quitting at the time, also hung around for 1.5 years. Despite her insistence, the producers refused to let her leave even when she expressed her desire to do so. Palak added,

To even let that co-actor go, they took 1.5 years. He suffered for 1.5 years and that is the reason the said co-actor was sent on a good note.

Palak Sindhwani wanted to take a break from her acting career

Sindhwani revealed in the same interview that she is no longer interested in working in television. She worked on the same show for five years in television, but now she wants a change. Now, she will first take a break to take care of her physical and emotional well-being. Palak continued, saying:

Honestly, I don’t want to do TV. Mera mann uthh gaya hai. 5 saal ek show ko dene ke baad aisa sab hua hai toh abhi muje TV nahi karna hai. Honestly, this one-month break can exceed to two months.

Palak Sindhwani accused TMKOC producers of threatening her

Palak Sindhwani disclosed that she was terribly offended by the abuse and threats she received from the creators. The actress blasted the outrageous threats she received. She claimed that she would never be allowed to endorse a business again and that her social media accounts would be erased. Palak claimed that despite her attempts to explain that other actresses also support brands, the producers used extremely harsh language with her. She said,

During the September 18 meeting, they even threatened me, saying they could delete my Instagram account in one go because they have such a strong team, and that I wouldn’t be able to shoot brand endorsements anymore. I pointed out that almost all the actors are doing brand endorsements, so why was I the only one being accused of breaching the contract? They responded that their contracts are different and I shouldn’t compare myself with others. They started speaking to me rudely, using the same harsh language.
