SS Rajamouli Responds To Anand Mahindra’s Request To Direct A Movie Based On Indus Valley Civilization

Director SS Rajamouli is known for making historical movies. Movies based on Indian history are quite popular among people. The director has won awards and appreciation for his historical films like Baahubali: The Beginning, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and also the Oscar-winning RRR.

The magnum opus went on to win the Oscars trophy for Best Original Song, surpassing the likes of Rihanna and Lady Gaga. At the 95th Oscars, MM Keeravaani accepted the Best Original Song award, and said,

“I grew up listening to The Carpenters, here I am with the Oscars.” “There was only one wish on my mind, so was Rajamouli’s and my family’s, RRR has to win, pride of every Indian and must put me on top of the world.”

SS Rajamouli’s RRR surpassed over 1000 crores at the box office globally. The movie is an epic action drama film that revolves around the story of two real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Rama Rao). It portrays their fictional friendship and their fight against the British Raj.

The social media sensation, Mahindra Group chairman, Anand Mahindra often grabs attention for his views and remarks on numerous topics from entertainment to societal matters.

The renowned businessman this time took to Twitter and gave a shoutout to Mr. SS Rajamouli

He shared a Twitter thread with historical illustrations, Mahindra reposted pictures from the Indus Valley Civilisation and requested SS Rajamouli to consider making a film project based on the ancient cities of the IVC era.

The Telugu director was tagged by the business tycoon Anand Mahindra while sharing a few beautiful pictures of the Indus Valley Civilisation. The businessman commented that they spread global awareness of that ancient civilisation that brings history alive by sparking our imagination.

Anand Mahindra wrote in his tweet,

“These are amazing illustrations that bring history alive & spark our imagination. Shoutout to @ssrajamouli to consider a film project based on that era that will create global awareness of that ancient civilisation…”

The Twitter thread includes ancient cities of Indus Valley Civilisation including Harappa, Mohenjo Daro, Dholavira, Lothal, Kalibangan, Banawali, Rakhigarhi, Surkotada, Chanhu Daro, and Rupar. The tweet was shared by a Twitter user with the handle called Desi Thug.

The RRR director responded to Anand Mahindra, sharing an account that inspired him to work on a movie based on Indus Valley Civilisation

Mr. Rajamouli conveyed that the idea came to him when he was shooting for the movie Megadheera. In his tweet, SS Rajamouli shared that while he was shooting for a movie in Gujarat’s Dholavira, he came across a tree that was very ancient and had turned into a fossil. He also shared that he also tried to visit Mohenjo Daro during his visit to Pakistan but was denied permission.

SS Rajamouli replied to the industrialist by saying,

“Yes sir… While shooting for Magadheera in Dholavira, I saw a tree so ancient that It turned into a fossil. Thought of a film on the rise and fall of Indus Valley civilization, narrated by that tree!! Visited Pakistan few years later. Tried so hard to visit Mohenjodaro. Sadly, was denied permission.”

After the Oscar win for the song Naatu Naatu from his movie RRR, SS Rajamouli is currently working on the untitled film SSMB29. The movie features stars like Mahesh Babu. Reportedly, Deepika Padukone is also supposed to be a part of the film. An official announcement is yet to be made.
