Sri Lanka Journalist Insults Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, the former Indian captain and flashy batsman, continued his poor form with the bat as he failed to make an impact once more. In the ongoing 2nd ODI game of the three-match series at Bolan Park, Paarl, the elegant batsman was dismissed for a duck.

After Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed, Virat came out to bat at number three, knowing he had a major obligation to perform a strong knock. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, failed to make an impression as he gave an easy catch to Temba Bavuma off Keshav Maharaj. Kohli was only able to last 5 balls before returning to the pavilion without contributing any point to the scoreboard.

Kohli was removed for a duck by a spinner for the first time in an ODI, but it was also his 14th duck in the 50-overs format. The loss of Virat Kohli has put India on the back foot, with the team now at 64/2.

Virat Kohli Duck

Meanwhile, as soon as Kohli was removed for a duck, a Sri Lankan journalist sought to mock him by posting an offensive Tweet for the Indian batsman.

Daniel Alexander is a Sri Lankan cricket supporter and a cricket commentator for the uninformed. He is quite active on social media and is well-known for his vitriolic tweets directed against Indian players. To placate his Sri Lankan and Pakistani followers, he is frequently seen attacking Indian cricketers.

As the spectacular Indian batsman was removed for a duck, Daniel Alexander seized the chance to slam Virat Kohli once more. Daniel criticised Virat Kohli for his 31st duck in international cricket and for not reaching a century in 64 innings. Virat Kohli was also dubbed the “most overrated cricketer ever” by him. He expressed himself in his tweet as follows:

“31st duck in International cricket for Kohli (ODIs 14, Tests 14, T20Is 3). Also, 64 inns without an Int’l century for Kohli, last Int’l century was against a Bangladesh bowling without Shakib & Mustafizur, in India on 23rd Nov 2019. The most overrated cricketer ever.”

The tweet quickly went viral, prompting a barrage of responses from fans, who are now returning it to him for criticising Kohli.

Virat Kohli is regarded as one of the most ambitious cricketers in the world. He used to be the most reliable multi-format accumulator. With his captaincy, he guided India to the top of the Test rankings and a five-series victory in Australia. He has led India to the most Test victories of any captain in the country’s history. Between 2013 and 2022, Kohli captained the Indian cricket team in almost 200 matches across all three forms. He also placed another feather to his crown by setting the world record for the quickest 23,000 international runs.

He has always supported cricket as a national duty, but now, more than ever, he requires the backing of his fans.
