Ritika Sajdeh Reacts After Aaron Finch ‘Defends’ Rohit Sharma Against Sunil Gavaskar’s Remark”

India is gearing up to face Australia in the much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, speculation has arisen that Rohit Sharma may not be available for the first Test due to personal reasons. Amidst the discussions around his absence, former Australian captain Aaron Finch has stepped in to defend Rohit.

There have been conflicting reports about Rohit Sharma’s availability for the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with some suggesting he might miss the match due to personal reasons. Rohit, who is expecting his second child with wife Ritika Sajdeh, is likely to be absent from the Perth Test.

Amidst this, former Indian cricket captain Sunil Gavaskar has raised concerns about the potential absence of Rohit for multiple matches in the series. He suggested that if he remains absent for a majority of the matches then the Indian selection committee should consider appointing a new captain for the entire tour.

Gavaskar said as we quote,

“We have been reading that Rohit Sharma will not play in the first Test, perhaps he will not play in the second as well. If this is the case, then I say that, right now, the Indian selection committee should say that ‘if you have to rest, rest, if there are personal reasons then look at them. But if you are missing two-thirds of the matches then you should go for this tour only as a player. We will make the vice- captain the captain of this tour’.”

Former Australian captain Aaron Finch has openly defended Rohit Sharma’s decision to take leave for personal reasons ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Finch debunked Gavaskar’s remark and strongly supported Rohit’s choice to prioritize his family during such a special moment like welcoming a new child.

In response to Sunil Gavaskar’s suggestion that the Indian team should appoint a new captain for the series if Rohit misses the first two Tests, Finch firmly disagreed and said,

“I disagree with Sunny on that totally. Rohit Sharma is the captain of the Indian cricket team. If you need to stay at home because your wife is having a baby… that’s such a beautiful moment… and you take all the time that you need in that regard.”

Her response quickly went viral, as fans shared the moment across platforms. Furthermore, to say that Finch’s remarks, backing Rohit’s choice to prioritize family, struck a chord with many would be a sheer understatement.

On the flip side, after an unexpected home series loss to New Zealand, India’s path to the World Test Championship final has grown more challenging. To qualify directly India must now win four out of the five upcoming Tests against Australia. The stakes are indeed high. Nonetheless, it will be fun to watch the series.
