Rashami opened up about her disturbing casting couch encounter when she was 16
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, television star Rashami Desai discussed the difficulties she encountered in the early stages of her career. The actress even disclosed that she had a troubling casting couch encounter when she was just 16 and starting her career in the industry. The actress shared the experience, remembering it as uncomfortable.

Rashami recalled how her mother had to intervene and confront a man who tried to make her unconscious during one casting couch. She shared that although she has openly talked about her experience several times in the previous years, it remains a fresh wound in her mind.
Rashami further added that the feeling was uncomfortable and she somehow managed to escape. She shared the details of the occurrences soon after with her mother. Rashami said:

“Unfortunately, I have been subjected to the same and I have spoken time and
again on many occasions about this. The internet is already filled with articles on
the same topic. I remember I was called for an audition and when I went there,
there was no one else except him. I was just 16 back then and he tried to get me
unconscious. I was uncomfortable and somehow managed to come out from there
and later, after a few hours, I told everything to my mother”
Rashami further added,
” I remember the next day, I went to meet him with my mother and my mother had slapped him to teach a lesson. ”
Rashami further revealed that the industry is not all bad
Though the casting couch is a part of every industry, she shared that eventually, she found some good people and just focused on enjoying her work.
“Casting couch is a real thing but then, every industry is about good and bad people. I am fortunate to have later worked with some fabulous people with whom I have had a good working experience. God has been kind.”
Rashami Desai is a household name for her roles in Hindi television shows like Ishq Ka Rang Safed and Adhuri Kahaani Hamari. She will be seen next in the upcoming film, Mission Laila, which is set to be released around Christmas this year. Her recent work includes Hisaab Barabar and Evara: The Blessing of God. Desai is also working on two Bhojpuri films, Mom Tane Nai Samjay and Chambe Di Booti.
