How does he manage to scam women so easily?

The accused approached ladies under the mask of a doctor and fooled them, according to the police. The Bhubaneswar Police Department has organized a task group to assist all of his victims, which currently number over 90 women.

Ramesh Chandra Swain, a sexagenarian, altered his identity to Dr Bibhu Prakash Swain and Dr Ramani Ranjan Swain to fool ladies. He found his targets on marriage websites like Jeevansathi.com, Shaadi.com, and Bharatmatrimony.com. He was born and raised in a seaside hamlet in Odisha’s Kendrapara district.

Despite being 10th pass, he pretended to be professor Bidhu Prakash Swain, 51-year-old deputy director-general of health education and training with a salary of 50-70 lakh a year. As written by him on one his matrimonial site,

“Though he looked more than 60 in real life, his victims ignored it while considering his government job. Swain took full advantage of the women’s helplessness and laid elaborate traps.”

Married 27 women from 10 states

A Supreme Court lawyer, a Kerala Administrative Service official, a Chartered Accountant, assistant commandant of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, a senior executive from an insurance business, and physicians were among his brides. Swain targeted ladies over the age of 40 who were going through a divorce or had family problems.

Swain’s clumsy introduction should have been a red flag, but the ladies he contacted were all over 40. And as we have already mentioned that these ladies are dealing with societal pressures and family issues.

When Sanjana moved in with him, she found a startling discovery.

Sanjana was informed by her domestic worker shortly after arriving in Bhubaneshwar in 2018 that Swain was previously married to more than one lady. When he wasn’t at home, she went through his apartment and uncovered disturbing documentation on all of his former spouses in a cabinet he typically kept closed.
