Strange one-dish restaurants on Zomato baffle users
A bizarre trend is going on in Zomato that has left social media users puzzled. In the Nayagaon area of Chandigarh, several listings on the platform feature so-called “restaurants” that sell only one dish, often with an unusual name and at an unusually high price. What is interesting to note is that these outlets have no reviews and if so, they are only negative ones.
The situation first gained attention when a Reddit user shared their experience, stating that such restaurants appear to have cropped up in recent days.
The names of the dishes being sold add to the absurdity. With titles like Naughty Strawberry, Blue Adventure, and Citrus Punch, the nature of the food being offered is unclear. Despite their oddity, these listings have sparked wild speculation among users about whether they might be fronts for suspicious activities like money laundering or some other shady business.
The Reddit user even attempted to investigate by placing an order. However, their experience took another strange turn as the order automatically got cancelled and the restaurant disappeared from the app shortly afterward.

His money was refunded after he placed the order.
I tried ordering from one of the restaurants. After quite a long wait, the order was rejected and my money was refunded. The restaurant also stopped accepting orders after that – very very sus.

This can be the product team testing things out. Products might be deliberately costly and sus looking to reduce chances of someone actually placing an order.

There are some ‘ghost’ restaurants which are not physical restaurants and just package and give delivery. And they don’t care about quality or ratings because they change name and do it again.

They are selling hard drugs, it’s super obvious. It’s the same in Mumbai where there are special items on the menu that costs thousands. There was an exposĂ© I read about this industry. Forget where it was.
But in the Mumbai case, they trap men who meet women.
