Prior to her marriage to Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani, born Nita Dalal, maintained a low-profile existence. Her birth took place on November 1, 1963, in Mumbai, India. Notably, Nita’s father, Ravindrabhai Ambani, held a senior managerial position within the Aditya Birla Group, which is presently under the leadership of Kumar Mangalam Birla.

Although Nita pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce she always had a knack for classical dance. Commencing her journey as a Bharatnatyam dancer at the tender age of 6, Nita Ambani dedicated herself to the art form for nearly 15 years. Subsequently, she transitioned into a professional career as a dancer and began supporting herself by imparting the art of dance as a teacher at a modest school.

During those days when she was not married to Mukesh Ambani, she not only used to teach classical dance at schools but even used to perform at prestigious shows and events. It was during one such event where she was performing that Dhirubhai Ambani noticed her and sought for her to be his daughter-in-law.

Upon marrying Mukesh Ambani, Nita had a single request – to retain her independence to work following their wedding. The Ambani family graciously honored her wish, allowing her to pursue her career without any hindrance. She continued teaching at schools even after her marriage.

Furthermore, her passion for classical dancing is clearly evident even today. Her magnificent performance at the grand opening of NMACC is a testament to her utter grace and unmatchable Bharatnatyam skills.

In an interview with Simi Garewal, Nita Ambani once revealed her salary during those days

During an interview with Simi Garewal, Nita Ambani openly discussed her professional life, disclosing that she remained employed as a schoolteacher at St. Flower Nursery even after her marriage.

What is worth noting is that she even revealed that her monthly salary at the time was a modest Rs 800 per month, highlighting her commitment to her career despite her association with one of India’s wealthiest families.
