The Alleged Crime of Nargis’s sister
According to reports from The Daily News, prosecutors allege that 43-year-old Aliya Fakhri intentionally set fire to a two-storey detached garage of her ex-boyfriend’s home in Queens on November 23, 2024. Her Ex-boyfriend Edward Jacobs, 35, and his friend Anastasia Ettienne, 33 succumbed to the fire. According to authorities, Aliya and Jacobs had broken up roughly a year ago. His refusal to get back together caused emotional distress that allegedly pushed her to extremely violent actions. She did it in a fit of jealousy.
Aliya faces extreme charges, including four counts of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and arson. If convicted, Nargis’s sister could face a life sentence in prison.
Nargis finally opened up about the horrific incident
After the news reached the headlines sparking widespread media attention, people chased Nargis and questioned her about whether she knew anything about her sister’s actions.

As per a report from India Today, Nargis stated that she has “nothing to clarify” regarding the situation. The actress also mentioned that she has had no relationship with her sister for the past two decades. She added that she has no idea what she does in her life.
Nargis Fakhri’s mother reacted to Aliya Fakhri’s arrest
Nargis and Aliya’s mother, Marie A. Fakhri, defended her daughter. She said that her daughter, Aliya wasn’t the kind of person who would kill someone. According to Marie, Aliya is a kind and caring person. Additionally, Aliya’s mother disclosed that the opioids influenced her behaviour after a dental mishap. Mrs. Fakhri conveyed,
“I don’t think she would be killing someone. She was a person who was caring for everybody. She tried to help everybody.”
Nargis and Aliya’s family background
Aliya Fakhri is younger than her sister, Nargis Fakhri, the Bollywood actress. They were born and raised in Queens, New York. Their father, Mohammed Fakhri, is Pakistani, while her mother, Marie Fakhri, is of Czech descent. When the sisters were young Nargis’ parents got divorced. These family differences may have also played a role in Aliya’s struggles with separation.
