Nana Patekar The kashmir Files

The Kashmir Files is the only film that has sparked a national debate. Despite the absence of famous actors or fresh marketing, a film has inspired such wide attention in Indian cinema for the first time. It’s also worth mentioning that numerous actors have spoken out against the film, while others have remained silent.

The movie directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, has shattered several box office records. In its second week, the film is exceeding Akshay Kumar’s most recent feature, Bachchhan Paandey. The content-driven film has received a lot of praise for its stunning performances and heart-wrenching narrative. It stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, and Prakash Belavdi who are the receivers of national awards.

The movie is based on the true story of the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus in the Kashmir valley by hardline Islamists in 1990, as well as the forced exile of Kashmiri Hindus that followed. As the title suggests, it also serves as a reminder of the valley’s horrible military character. Many of Kashmiri Pandit victims were butchered, and endless others were forced to escape their homes and relocated to other parts of India, as depicted in the film.

Nana Patekar statement on The Kashmir Files

At a recent event, Nana Patekar was asked about his take on The Kashmir Files and the controversy around it. He told the media, according to Aaj Tak,

“Hindus and Muslims very much belong here, and it is necessary for them to live together and they must live together. If division is taking place, it is wrong.”

He further added that controversy erupting because of a film that may result in division between the two communities is not desirable and when people are living peacefully, it is not right to court a controversy with a film like The Kashmir Files.

He went on to say that after watching the film, society will be divided into two sections which is not right. Those who are doing this should be questioned.

However, he also added that he hasn’t watched the film and will not be able to comment further on the content of the film. But maintained that “a controversy erupting over a film is not good”.
