The Kashmir Files is the only film that is now being debated across the country. Perhaps for the first time in Indian cinema history, a film has gotten so much attention from the general public despite the fact that it has no huge stars or new marketing. It’s also worth noting that much of mainstream Bollywood stars have kept a strange quiet about the film’s surprising success, which is still winning the game and has only recently begun to get traction in the public sphere.
The Kashmir Files, directed and co-written by Vivek Agnihotri, is an Indian Hindi-language film starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Prakash Belawadi. As the title indicates, the film is based on the real event of the large-scale exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from India’s northernmost state in the 1990s. It also tells us about the brutal militant reality of Kashmir valley. The film highlights the hardship of thousands of Kashmiri Pandit victims who perished, as well as countless others who were forced to flee their homes and relocate to other regions of India.
