Half-centuries by Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green went in vain as a magnificient final over by Arshdeep Singh stole the show and denied Mumbai Indians a win in a high-scoring thriller at the Wankhede stadium. Arshdeep was at his fluent best when he produced a match-winning spell to guide Punjab Kings to their fourth win of the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League.

In the last over, Arshdeep broke the LED middle-stump not once but twice

Yes, you read that right. Mumbai Indians needed 16 off the final over and Arshdeep gave just two runs and shattered the stumps of Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera and led his team Punjab Kings to a memorable win.

On the 3rd ball of the last over, Arshdeep Singh picked the wicket of Tilak Varma(3) and demolished his middle-stump to get rid of the Mumbai Indians’ batter. He repeated the same trick on the very next ball to dismiss Nehal Wadhera (0) and it was a hat-trick. On both occasions, the middle stump was broken and cost IPL management a big amount!

Punjab Kings tried to troll Mumbai Indians

Later, after the match, PBKS took to their social media and tried to troll Mumbai Indians with a hilarious post. PBKS tagged Mumbai police while sharing the images of the broken stumps. Sharing the image of the broken stumps, PBKS wrote:

“Hey @MumbaiPolice, we’d like to report a crime. 👀”

After ruling the night on Saturday, with his four-wicket haul against MI, Arshdeep Singh got on top of the Purple Cap race, having picked 13 wickets in seven games. Singh is followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Mohammed Siraj (12) in second place, Gujarat Ttitans’ Rashid Khan (12) in third, Lucknow Super Giants’ Mark Wood (11) in fourth and Rajasthan Royals’ Yuzvendra Chahal (11) in the fifth position.
