1. Nayak: The Real Hero– 2001

The movie starred Anil Kapoor in the lead role of Shivaji Rao. Initially the movie was offered to Aamir Khan who turned it down and thus the movie went to Anil Kapoor. The film went on to become a path breaking film in Anil Kapoor’s career and garnered huge success at the box office. The film is counted among one of the best films till date.

2. Darr– 1993

Based on certain Bollywood reports, the first choice of male lead role for the movie Darr was Ajay Devgn but eventually Ajay turned it down and so the movie went to Aamir Khan but he also decided not to do the movie. So finally the movie found its villain in Shah Rukh Khan. The film proved significant in Shah Rukh’s career as it started a close association between Yash Raj and King Khan.

3. Swades– 2004

Ashutosh Gowariker and Aamir Khan built up a good rapport while working together in Lagaan and thus went on to became good friends. Thus Ashutosh Gowariker offered his next project Swades to Aamir Khan but Aamir decided to turn it down claiming he got bored with the plot. Although Aamir turned down Swades but he was present at the muhurat of the film.

4. Saajan– 1991

Aamir Khan and Salman Khan proved to be an entertaining Jodi onscreen so the duo was approached for working together in Saajan. The makers of Saajan wanted to cast the two Khans in this romantic movie but Aamir turned down the offer stating he didn’t find the role convincing. Later on Sanjay Dutt was approached for the role who loved it so much that he immediately lapped it. The two Khans were later on seen together onscreen in Andaz Apna Apna.

5. Hum Aapke Hain Kaun– 1994

This family drama of Priyadarshan which presented Salman Khan as Boy Next Door and boasted his popularity to another level was eventually offered to Aamir Khan. Aamir being quite choosy with films turned down the offer stating he didn’t found the script appealing. So basically Aamir Khan rejecting the movie proved fruitful for Salman Khan as the film boasted his film career.

6. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge– 1995

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is till date remembered as the best romantic film and Shah Rukh Khan’s career literally took off with this film. But as per inside reports, the movie was eventually offered to Aamir Khan who decided not to do it. In the year in which SRK’s DDLJ was released, Aamir’s Rangeela also hit the silver screen. SRK won several awards for DDLJ and Aamir felt he should have also won an award for Rangeela. After this incident Aamir Khan stopped attending award functions.

7. Josh– 2000

It’s next to impossible imagining Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan sharing the same frame on silver screen but earlier in past there was an opportunity to see the two Khans on silver screen though the prospect didn’t materialise. Aamir Khan was offered the role of “Prakash” in the movie Josh though Aamir turned it down because he found the role to be way small as compared to SRK’s role of “Max”. Later on the role of Prakash was offered to Sharad Kapoor.

8. 1942: A Love Story– 1994

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s romantic narration 1942: A Love Story was another hit turned down by Aamir Khan. Vidhu Vinod Chopra fondly wanted to cast Aamir for the film as he had written the character of male lead role keeping Aamir in mind. Later on Anil Kapoor replaced Aamir Khan for the movie.

9. Mohabbatein– 2000

Mohabbatein is again one of the hit love stories turned down by Aamir Khan and its none of a surprise that the movie went to Shah Rukh Khan who portrayed the role of Raj Aryan and the plot revolved around Gurukul boys with the principal who hates the idea of love.

10. Dil To Pagal Hai– 1997

Dil To Pagal Hai was another grand hit which went into the accolades of King Khan of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan. The movie was initially offered to Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan but he turned it down. The two most talented divas of Bollywood accompanying King Khan in the movie made the movie a big hit.

11. Bajrangi Bhaijaan– 2015

Bajrangi Bhaijaan made the audience cry their heart out with a beautiful plot and overwhelming story. Aamir Khan turned down the offer for Bajrangi Bhaijaan because he wanted to make some changes to the script which the director refused. Later on the movie was offered to Salman Khan who instantly agreed to the movie and loved the script as well.
