13 Hit Movie Offers That Were Initially Declined By Aishwarya Rai

There have been numerous incidents when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turned down a lot of blockbusters because of her busy schedule, or maybe she didn’t like the script or other personal reasons which could have been fruitful to her. Although we have seen her amazing acting skills in movies like Devdas and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, her fans still regret her for not taking up some of the most beautiful and vibrant roles.

Here’s a list of a few hit movies Aishwarya Rai turned down without even thinking!

1. Kuch Hota Hota Hai– 1998

Before the director, Karan Johar went on a scuffle mission to find someone to play the character of Tina, Aishwarya Rai was one of those selected faces who refused to play this role as she was working in the Tamil flick Jeans. Later, Rani Mukerji was offered the role.

2. Raja Hindustani– 1996

This Bollywood masterpiece which was released in 1996 staring Aamir Khan and Karishma Kapoor would have witnessed Aishwarya Rai if she would not have refused to play this role. She intended to participate in the Miss World pageant so she had to turn down the role offered by Dharmesh Darshan.

3. Veer-Zaara– 2004

The movie starred Preity Zinta in the lead role was one tremendous loss to Aishwarya Rai. Directed by Yash Chopra it was the highest-grossing film of 2004. Aishwarya might have played the lead role but it eventually didn’t turn to be so for unknown reasons.

4. Munna Bhai MBBS– 2003

This movie which was directed by Raju Hirani initially cast Aishwarya Rai and Shahrukh Khan but later on the lead pair was completely changed. She was the former choice for the role of Dr. Suman but when Ash refused Gracy Singh played the role in the film opposite Sanjay Dutt.

5. Chalte Chalte– 2003

Aish did not willingly give up the role as had already shot a good portion of the movie with her co-star Shah Rukh. The reason why she walked out of the sets was her arguments with Salman Khan when he visited her sets drunk. Rani Mukerji then replaced Aishwarya Rai for the role.

6. Troy– 2004

This one is probably her biggest lost, Troy the one blockbuster Hollywood movie. The directors of the film offered the role opposite Brad Pitt. She probably turned down the movie as there was a make-out scene, which was the demand of the script.

7. Krrish- 2006

After rejecting Kaho Na Pyaar hai which eventually became Ameesha Patel’s debut movie, Aishwarya Rai rejected this movie too from the same team of Kaho Na Pyaar Hai.

8. Bhool Bhulaiyaa– 2007

We don’t regret Aishwarya Rai setting aside this role since nobody could have pulled the character better than Vidya Balan did. But anyway, this movie too could have been a feather in her hat.

9. Dostana– 2008

While it would have been amazing to witness her act along with her husband who ultimately had chemistry with John Abraham, Aishwarya Rai wasn’t too excited to be a part of this movie. Aishwarya, Abhishek and Saif Ali Khan were chosen for the movie, but since the story was about two guys, she moved out of the film. Later on, Saif too moved out of the film and we saw a trio of Abhishek, John and Priyanka.

10. Namastey London– 2007

The colourful and vibrant role played by Katrina Kaif in Namastey London could have starred Aishwarya Rai has she not rejected the movie. She didn’t want to play that role.

11. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham– 2001

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was chosen to play the character opposite Shahrukh Khan but due to some schedule problems, she eventually had to turn down the movie.No doubt Aishwarya Rai has missed some of the most amazing opportunities which could have added onto her career.

12. Bajirao Mastani– 2015

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s war creation was intended to be played by Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan after the success of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999. But, due to various reasons, this dream project of Bansali could not take off back then and in 2015. When Aishwarya Rai got to know that Salman was to the part of the movie she turned it down. Bhansali finally released the movie with Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh as the stars of this critical and commercial success.

13. Bluffmaster– 2005

As Rohan Sippy made up his mind to stare the same lead pair of Abhishek and Aishwarya from his debut film Kuch Na Kaho, Aishwarya Rai decided to let it go and eventually Priyanka Copra played the role opposite Abhishek Bacchan.
