Bollywood, the Indian film industry which makes the second highest number of movies in the world is also famous for lot more things apart from producing critically acclaimed films. The diet of filmstars, their love affairs, the controversies going round their name and breaking the long imposed taboos, all form the hot topics of Bollywood round the year. The female counterparts of Bollywood i.e. the actresses are no less than actors by breaking the prototype not only with their acting skills but also setting up role models for the society as a whole.

There are numerous instances where the Bollywood actresses acted as an eye opener for the society. All of us must be remembering the ‘Make My Trip’ advertisement where Alia Bhatt breaking the paradigm portrayed the role of a taxi driver. There are lot more additions to it when our female lead took up roles which were not women centric but also out of the league.

Breaking the paradigm and taking up roles by Bollywood actresses which are not women centric proves that the success of a film doesn’t rests on the shoulder of an actor, a movie can equally do well with a strong female lead. 1. Taking up adult category as a career

There has always been an ongoing tradition in Bollywood where females have always been objectified and had to reveal their body parts to garner the appeal and acceptance of audiences. But these days actresses are willingly taking up Adult Industry as a career option. One of the renowned name in this industry is Sunny Leone.

Nowadays intimacy has become an ingrained part of Bollywood movies and is absolutely considered normal though still the actresses who are part of such movies fail to receive the equal amount of fame and recognition as compared to other celebrity actresses. But still the actresses who are working in the female industry have not let these opinions have an impact on their choice of career option.

Women like Sherlyn Chopra, Poonam Pandey have even come up with their own apps to entertain the audience in their own ways. These women are proud of their bodies and don’t hesitate in coming nude in front of the audience by breaking the custom chain that is so heavy in the name of decency.

Though marriage is considered essential for everyone but in India marriage is attributed to the soul meaning and existence in the life of a woman. So there are Bollywood actresses who didn’t hesitate in breaking the societal norms to live their lives as per their own choice. A famous example to this is Priyanka Chopra who married Nick Jonas with a huge age gap of ten years.

3. Body type and acceptance

Bollywood has always objectified actresses and amidst this have fuelled the prejudices of having a sculpted figure along with good looks as a mandatory trait to be a successful actress. Bollywood has always imposed a misconception that only slim girls are beautiful and attractive.

However there are Bollywood actresses who have broken this stereotype by gracefully accepting their body type and doing great in the industry by their acting skills. These actresses have emerged as torch bearers and setting up examples by being comfortable in their own skin.

The renowned example to this is none other than Vidya Balan. She quoted in one of her interviews that first she also thought that slim actresses garnered more praise and accolades but now she accepts her body gracefully. Vidya further added that this fat is part of my body and I have to accept it with confidence and be proud of my body. Vidya has surely set an example which has made other actresses to ponder whether they should follow dieting and gym just to look pretty for others or for themselves.

4. Ranbir-Deepika-Ranveer

The love affair of Deepika Padukone with Ranveer Singh gained immense popularity as everyone in the industry was well aware about the previously alleged love affair of Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor. After walking the ramp Kareena stated that it will be a walk to remember as she and her baby walked the ramp together. Kareena chose to walk for renowned designer Sabyasachi’s muse for his latest collection that brought the curtains down at the Lakme Fashion Week 2016. Kareena looked fabulously gorgeous in Sabyasachi outfit with her baby bump visible and was immensely praised by the industry for not letting the pregnancy come in between her work.
