Meet Sriram Krishnan, The Indian Origin Man Helping Elon Musk In Twitter

After taking control of Twitter, Elon Musk made headlines when he sacked some top executives including the then-Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal. Parag is a man of Indian origin who was born in Ajmer and studied at IIT Bombay before moving to Stanford University. Firing Parag Agrawal gave rise to a lot of controversies in not only India but all over the world. But this time Musk has shaken hands with another man with Indian lineage, Sriram Krishnan who is one of Musk’s close business associates.

Thirty-seven-year-old Sriram Krishnan is an ex-Twitter employee and a general partner at Silicon Valley venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (also called a16z) which invested in Musk’s buyout of Twitter.

According to a report in The New York Times, on October 30, Musk flew to New York, Krishnan and others were holding the fort in Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters. Krishnan posted a picture of the office on Twitter, on October 31, and wrote that he was “helping out” Musk “temporarily”.

Krishnan recently tweeted,

“Now that the word is out: I’m helping out @elonmusk with Twitter temporarily with some other great people. I (and a16z) believe this is a hugely important company and can have a great impact on the world and Elon is the person to make it happen”

According to New York Times, Krishnan’s father worked in the insurance sector and his mother was a homemaker. He was born in a “typical middle-class Indian family”. In 2005, at the age of 21, Sriram moved to the United States.

4. Sriram Krishnan has worked at Microsoft, Yahoo, Facebook, Snap, and also Twitter

In 2007, he started working with Microsoft for the Windows Azure division. He started his tech career as a program manager for Visual Studio. Sriram created the Facebook Audience Network which is a competitive platform to Google’s ad technologies while working at Facebook (Meta).

He was responsible for building the ad tech platform at Snap. Sriram was a former employee at Twitter. As a senior director of products, he built a new UI and redesigned its homepage bringing in a 20% annual user growth rate by making the user experience more pleasing.

According to an NYT article, Sriram and his wife met in college back in 2003, while studying software engineering. They first met virtually in a Yahoo! chatroom for a coding project. They live in San Francisco’s Noe Valley neighborhood, and the couple has a daughter and a little son.
