A Bengaluru-based techie recently documented his experience of ordering food via Zomato during his train journey from Mumbai to Pune. The passenger Sunny R Gupta, shared this on the social media platform, X (previously Twitter). The post went viral in no time.
During his journey, a prompt on the Zomato app asked Sunny to enter his Passenger Name Record (PNR), and due to that, he opened Zomato on his phone. Intrigued by it, he thought of giving it a try and placed an order for Triple Schezwan Rice.

Gupta’s screenshot displays that he ordered food worth ₹465 to be delivered to his berth on the Mumbai to Pune train. The train, however, was running late while the Zomato delivery agent had arrived at Panvel already. He wrote on his X thread,
“The train is running delayed and Zomato says my food is prepped and waiting at the station. Previous station was Thane, next up Panvel”

Revenge on Zomato
He jokingly remarked that this way he was taking revenge on Zomato, as the delivery was on time but he was running late.
In the following update, Gupta wrote,

“This is probably the first time I am taking revenge on @zomato. Food delivery guy is waiting for me and I’m running late. My message to Zomato: This is not the experience I wished you to have. I would like to thank you for your patience. As a token of appreciation, I will pay Rs 50 tip extra on my next order.”

Gupta’s overall experience
Gupta mentioned that he was satisfied with the overall service, the only flaw that he pointed out was that despite instructions given to the restaurant by Zomato itself, the restaurant didn’t send cutlery, which was inconvenient on a train. He mentioned in the post,
“Will raise it with Zomato to ensure the hotel gets to know about the issue”
But alas, no spoons were sent.

This feature is there for quite sometime, the problem is railways is very unpredictable with timings and gets late a lot, so food might get cold.

I ordered a medium size pizza last time I was on train which cost me about 460 something. Train was running late for about 2 hours. The pizza was cold and the experience was not so good.
