The Indian cricket team has certainly made its fans proud by winning the T20 series against New Zealand. The first match was played at Eden Park, Auckland where team India won after chasing a huge total of 204 runs.

Batting first, New Zealand batted pretty well and put a huge total of 204 runs on the board. India’s start was not good as Rohit Sharma got out early but KL Rahul (56) and Virat Kohli (45) not only handled the situation well but also scored runs at good pace in order to keep the run rate in check. KL Rahul, the Indian cricketer has wonderfully cemented his place in the playing XI of the Indian team by giving back-to-back brilliant performances. Besides making an impact with his impeccable batting performances, KL Rahul took the glovework quite brilliantly as well.

KL Rahul extended his purple patch after scoring a hundred against West Indies in Vizag. In the series against Australia, his true potential was tested but not just he impressed everyone by batting at different positions but by making an impact with his wicket keeping as well.

Risabh Pant, the regular wicket-keeper of Team India was replaced by KL Rahul after he suffered a concussion in the 1st ODI against Australia in Wankhede, Mumbai. Virat Kohli led team India were struggling behind the stumps and other hand Risabh Pant was under the scanner of critics for a long time because of his woeful performance with the bat and gloves.

After the match against New Zealand, KL Rahul was asked a very tricky question regarding Risabh Pant. The reporter asked:

“Do you see Pant coming back into the side and playing in this series?”

Speaking on his new job as a wicket-keeper of the team, Rahul said that he is loving the new responsibility given to him. He said:

“I am quite honestly loving it. At the international stage, it might seem like I have never kept. But I have kept for my IPL franchise for the last 3-4 years, and I have kept for my first-class team as and when there is an opening. I have still stayed in touch with wicket keeping.”

We just hope Rahul keeps performing for team India and make our country proud.
