Ishan Kishan Gives A Savage Reply To Aakash Chopra Who Compared Him To MS Dhoni

Young Indian keeper-batter Ishan Kishan is enjoying his time on the ongoing West Indies tour. He played an instrumental role in the Indian cricket team’s success in the just concluded ODI series, where he scored fifties in all three games against the West Indies.

All thanks to his brilliant performance in the series, he received his maiden Player of the Series. He finished the series as the leading run-getter, amassing a total of 184 runs with a best of 77 at an average of 61.33 and a strike rate of 111.51.

With his half-century in the 3rd and final ODI match at the Brain Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad saw him join MS Dhoni, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Mohammed Azharuddin among others in an elite group. Kishan is the most recent player to smash half-centuries in all the games of the series.

Apart from his batting, Ishan Kishan impressed one and all with his neat work with the gloves as well. He was also involved in a hilarious coincidence during the third ODI match on Tuesday.

The hilarious incident took place during the West Indies innings when Ishan tried to stump a batter out by removing his bails, however, the batter survived.

While the stumping was still being reviewed by the TV umpire, former Indian cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra said that even though Ishan comes from Ranchi, he is not MS Dhoni. Aakash Chopra’s remark was a compliment to MS Dhoni’s lightning-fast work with the gloves.

“Bhaut rare hota hai ki aap vo stumping ya run-out ke dismissal ko review kare. Pair abhi to mujhe zameen par dikh raha hai waise (replay of the delivery). Dekhiye aap aate Ranchi se hai Ishan, lekin aapka naam Mahendra Singh Dhoni nahi hai,” Chopra said on air on JioCinema.

Coincidentally, just as Aakash Chopra completed his sentence, Kishan was heard on the stump mic saying:

“Haa phir theek hai”.

Though, it seemed as if he was responding to Chopra’s remark but it was just a well-timed coincidence, which has taken the internet by storm.

The incident also left Chopra and his fellow commentators RP Singh and Nikhil Chopra to burst out in laughter. Reacting to Ishan’s reply, Chopra said:

“Ishan ne jawab bhi diya hai dekho. How sweet Ishan, we love you.”
