You can spend your time inside the retirement room provided by the Indian railways. Passengers of Indian railways can take these rooms on rent and stay comfortably for as long as 48 hours. These services are available on major stations like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai. Interestingly, the rates of these IRCTC rooms vary from one city to another.
IRCTC Service Charge of Rs.20/- has to be paid for up to 24 hours and Rs. 40/- for 24 hours to 48 hours if you book a Retiring Room. Furthermore, a service charge of Rs. 10/- has to be paid for up to 24 hours and Rs.20/- for 24 hours to 48 hours if you book a Dormitory Bed. In addition, the Entry Charge of Executive Lounge, PF-1 for an initial 1 hour is Rs.150 per person and Executive Lounge, PF-16 for 2 hours is Rs.200 per person – “Exclusive of all taxes”. However, Bank Charges will entirely be borne by the passenger on the booking or cancellation.

- Go to the IRCTC official website.
- On the homepage, select a retiring room or lounge option (depending on your need).
- Then enter your PNR number and click on the search button.
- A few options as per the availability will be displayed on the screen.
- Choose from it.
- After booking, you will have to submit your identification documents.
Terms and conditions for IRCTC retiring room booking
While you indeed can avail of this brilliant facility by the Indian railways there is of course a catch. It is that you need to have a confirmed ticket and a PNR number in order to have an IRCTC room.
Only 1 room can be booked through 1 PNR number. Also, rooms will be allotted on a first-come-first-serve basis. After booking, you will be asked for your identification documents. Soon after, you will have a room just to yourself.
