It’s not uncommon for people traveling on flights to complain about the poor quality of food and beverages served onboard. Food quality is deteriorating day by day on some airlines. There have been several complaints from receiving stale food items to spotting insects in food. Airlines get criticized for their inedible pre-packaged meals.
IndiGo flights are availed by the masses and they often make headlines for the complaints of some or the other. This time a passenger indicated that the pre-packaged Upma served on the flight was too salty.

Health Influencer remarked that “Indigo’s Magic Upma has 50% more sodium than Maggi”
Himatsingka is popular for reviewing packaged foods. Known by the name, “Food Pharmer”, he recently reviewed the food served by the airline. He was on an IndiGo flight when he was served Indigo’s pre-packed meals. He suggested that the Magic Upma they served has 50% more sodium than fast food Maggi.
He added that even poha and daal-chawal served by the airline have more sodium than the instant noodles. His review went viral on social media and IndiGo issued a statement concerning the claim that certain pre-packaged meals served by IndiGo contain “high sodium” levels.
Revant Himatsingka took to social media and shared a video about the food being served by the airline onboard. In the video, the influencer displays a few food items included in the meal served by the airline like poha, upma, and dal chawal claiming that they have a higher salt content than Maggi. He took to X and wrote,
“Most of us already know that Maggi is a high sodium food! What most of don’t know is that Indigo’s Magic Upma has 50% more sodium than Maggi, Indigo’s Poha has 83% more sodium than Maggi, and Daal Chawal has as much sodium as Maggi”
He added,

“Just because ‘Upma’, ‘Poha’, ‘Daal chawal’ sound healthy, does not mean they are healthy. Always remember junk food pretending to be healthy, is even more dangerous than junk food.”
Himatsingka mentioned that Indians generally consume “too much sodium” and regular intake of excess sodium can result in high blood pressure, hypertension, heart issues, and kidney diseases. It can be seen in the video that he ordered all the ready-to-eat food packets on the IndiGo flight and then checked the sodium content of each packet.

He continued in the comments section,
“One of the reasons why we don’t feel the taste of excess salt in airlines is because high altitudes reduce our taste bud sensitivity. This is also one of the reasons why most airlines add excess salt in our food.”

Appreciate the effort. Why making mountain out of molehill. How much salt is high enough and problematic.
Salt is more at high altitude for 2 primary reasons not many people know.
Besides no one forced people to eat in Indigo

Enjoy your videos but this seems deceptive…
the sodium content on them is about 50% RDA limit, so on what basis are you saying that these contain high sodium?— Ajax (@Ajaxjacksss) April 17, 2024
