Getting robbed is not a new phenomenon, but experiencing it mid-flight is certainly unusual and alarming. This unsettling scenario came to light recently when a Mumbai-based founder shared her concerns on the social media platform X, revealing how her mother was almost robbed during an IndiGo flight. To say that this news is going viral all over the internet would be a sheer understatement.
SheSays Founder alleged mid-flight robbery attempt on IndiGo flight, disappointed with the uncooperative behavior
An unusual and troubling incident has come to light where a passenger allegedly attempted to rob others during a flight. Trisha Shetty, founder of SheSays, shared on social media how her mother was almost robbed mid-air while flying with IndiGo on flight 6E 17.

Sharing this troubling news, Trisha mentioned that the airline staff placed her mother’s handbag in the overhead compartment. While she was asleep, a fellow passenger reportedly took her bag.
Not just this, in fact, the passenger even rummaged through it. Fortunately, her mother woke up in time to catch the passenger returning the bag and making excuses.
Dear @IndiGo6E my mom got robbed on your flight 6E 17. Flight crew kept her handbag in the overhead. When she fell asleep,a passenger took her bag. Luckily she woke up when he was replacing her bag. Your crew refused to help her file a complaint. They made excuses for thief 1/2

Her next set of text expressed her frustration with IndiGo, accusing the airline crew of being uncooperative and reluctant to address the issue. She revealed that the thief had allegedly gone through the belongings of several passengers, with some complaining to the crew.
However, the staff, according to Shetty, dismissed the situation and failed to file a complaint. It was thanks to supportive fellow passengers that her mother was able to retrieve her belongings.

It’s thanks to fellow passengers who supported mom that she got her stuff back. Many other passengers complained that the thief was also going through their stuff. Your crew handled the situation terribly. Hoping to have this resolved, being robbed mid air is deeply troubling.

Soon after the Tweet began circulating, IndiGo came forward to give a generic response
Soon after Trisha Shetty’s tweet detailing her mother’s alarming mid-air robbery incident began circulating on social media, IndiGo was prompted to respond. However, the response again was generic and not satisfactory.
The airline expressed concern over the situation and requested Shetty to share her contact details via direct message for further assistance. The response read,
“Ms Shetty, we are concerned to hear this and wish to connect with you regarding the same. Requesting you to please share your contact details via DM so that we may assist you at the earliest. ~Team IndiGo”

Your mother is lucky she got her bag back. Travelling by Indigo has become traumatic. Two years back, my husband fell/rolled down from top of the metal ramp. He was badly injured but the airhostess was rude. It took many months fr my husband to recover

IndiGo ranked among worst airlines globally, however, the airline questions report credibility
This year, the AirHelp Score Report 2024 ranked IndiGo among the worst airlines globally, placing it at 103rd out of 109 airlines analyzed. The report’s findings sparked widespread criticism, with many alleging that IndiGo’s performance, be it customer service, on-time performance, and passenger satisfaction, has significantly declined.

However, IndiGo has refuted these claims, questioning the report’s credibility.
