Language disputes between North and South India often highlight the lack of inclusive spirit and cultural understanding within the country. These disagreements frequently stem from differing linguistic priorities. Some regions advocate for the dominance of Hindi while others strive to preserve their regional languages but often in a wrong way. Bengaluru, Karnataka, has increasingly become a hotspot for such debates. A recent example is the controversy at Diljit Dosanjh’s concert in Bengaluru, where a woman shared her harrowing experience with another audience.
Woman shares her distressing experience at Diljit Dosanjh concert over a language dispute with a Kannada woman
A recent incident at a Diljit Dosanjh concert in Bengaluru has highlighted the growing tensions around language and cultural differences in the city. A woman named Tanisha Sabherwal, took to social media to share her distressing experience at the event, emphasizing how a joyous occasion turned into a confrontation rooted in language issues.

Her main tweet read how in her opinion Bangalore will collapse soon. She then mentions how learning Kannada is not the solution and urged to keep on reading to know what happened at the Diljit Dosanjh concert.
I never thought I’ll be saying this, after having lived for so long but BANGALORE WILL COLLAPSE soon because of this language issue.
If you’re gonna say ‘then learn’, go ahead but READ ON.
Yesterday’s Diljeet concert experience was pathetic.

According to Sabherwal, the trouble began when another woman, triple her size, pushed her in the crowd. While she acknowledged such occurrences are common in large gatherings, what followed after was something that she or her friend did not anticipate.
When Sabherwal asked the woman to back off, she was met with abusive language and an insistence to speak in Kannada. The situation escalated further when her friend tried to intervene.
“A girl, triple my size, wanted to go ahead. I had a strong stance and then she starts to push me. Which is okay, happens in concerts.
When I politely asks her to back off, all I get is classic ‘Speak in kannada’ and whole lots of ‘F***’.
To this a friend(male) came to back me.”

Sabherwal shared how the woman began recording the incident and later they did too. She further shared how the woman allegedly twisted her friend’s arm. However, she got it recorded in the video.

“Things go accelerated, she took out her phone, started aggressively speaking all the castist things. We started recording too.
Next you know she held my friends hand and twister, which was thankfully on video too.
Touchwood, most people supported, asked her to not create scene”

Matters worsened when the Kannada woman involved the police but people around supported Sabherwal and her friend
Matters worsened when the woman involved called the police, accusing Sabherwal’s friend of harassment. However, Sabherwal had recorded the incident and showed the video to the authorities, which proved their innocence. Interestingly, the police asked her to delete the video. But they had the support of the crowd who first-hand witnessed the whole thing.
“She left and comes back with a police saying my friend was teasing her -_-.
And again police had to speak in kannada, ofcourse.
We showed the video, clearly it was opposite, and you know what the police said, ‘delete it’.
We showed around to the people, and they supported.”

The Police left and never came back which prompted the Kannada woman to cry and create a big scene.

“Police left, never game back. Now was the time for final woman card.
She started crying, acted to collapse and created a whole scene.
Mind you, she had no one around. Her friends left as soon as she started creating a scene.
Another friend took her to a seating area and”

After the whole fiasco, the Kannada woman asked Sabherwal to delete the video that she created. Sabherwal text highlighted how racism is not just overseas but in our own country as well.
“she said, ‘please delete the video’.
It’s so saddening to see this happening in your own country.
I hate this language idea and this fake feminism. The only thing that saved as was the video.
Dont complain of overseas racism if this is how you create your own people.”

Another mentioned how in the regime of Congress, the language controversy is rising in Bengaluru.
The language controversy in Bangalore appears as transient as the current Congress tenure.
It emerged with their rise to power and is expected to dissipate once the public show them their place.

The city has no soul!
Most of the local people have a feeling that the ones who can’t speak Kannada is not equally treatable.
