Friendships are built on trust and honesty which can be often challenged when it comes to lending money and never getting it back. Friendship and finances, when mixed, often don’t end on good terms and the break of trust can be a dealbreaker for many be it friendship or romantic relationships. It can be often heartbreaking when our good intentions are taken advantage of and helping out someone in need by lending money becomes tricky.
An X user took to social media to share a hurtful story about lending money to his friend
An X user who goes by the username, @sde_ray, recently posted on the social media platform about how he lent Rs 30,000 to a friend a few months ago and it still hasn’t been returned to him despite trying to reach out to his friend over calls and texts several times. His friend says “bro I’m busy, don’t disturb me and get a life” every time he calls which has put this X user in quite a pickle.

Take a look at the viral post,
I lent my friend 30K INR, 5-6 months ago, but he hasn’t returned it yet, even after multiple calls and messages.
And now if I call him to return my money, he replies: “bro I’m busy, don’t disturb me and get a life”
Lesson is, never fall for anyone sad story without verifying.

Here is how the netizens reacted to the relatable post and shared their experiences
3.5 lakhs, almost 4 years have passed. Kinda stopped asking at this point, last i asked was in March this year, but that’s a lesson you see

I lent my cousin 20,000 INR in 2008, he hasn’t returned a paisa till today. After 2014 I stopped taking his calls since it was annual “top up your charity” drive .
Lesson is, sometimes just give the money and sever the relationship. Emotionally and mentally it’s cheaper.— AmarVyas अमर व्यास (@MeAmarVyas) November 12, 2024
When a friend asks you for money always remember, it’s never coming back 90 percent of the times. He/She is in a debt trap and must have asked money from many others. Only lend if u can write off that amount. Speaking from experience 😊

70k here….70k does not hurt…i will earn again. But he chose to completely forgo a 15 yr old friendship. That hurts.
Fun fact…he is an ultra rich businessman in Roorkee now. 70k is like pocket change for him

similar amount, 5 years ago. Didn’t even get it back when I needed it during covid. From a friend of 10-12 years.
Writing it off for peace of mind was the best decision I took. Wasn’t worth it. Pricey lesson to learn.

I won’t lend anyone more than 10K, if not returned no issues. If asked for Medical emergency go to Hospital and pay by your credit card and link his account for EMI payment. I learnt this Hard way

Same thing happened with me also. I lent 11k to my friend. He asked and I gave him without asking why did he need that money. It’s been 3 months now and he doesn’t even pick up my calls, he has even blocked me on whatsapp.

10k here, ghosted me for 2 years after taking the money. I went to the police station and in one call within 10 minutes, I got my money back. Some people just don’t deserve your friendship
