On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Berlin, Germany, for the commencement of a three-nation European tour. While meeting with the Indian diaspora, a  young child delighted Modi with his patriotic song. The internet has gone crazy over a video of the prime minister flicking his fingers and eagerly listening to the child’s song.

The seven-year-old is seen singing “Hey Janmabhoomi Bharat” in the presence of PM Modi in a video from the prime minister’s recent visit to Berlin.

Modi is seen holding the youngster by his shoulder and warmly watching him in the 28-second film, which was published from his Facebook account. “Wah, badhiya,” says pleased Modi when the youngster finishes his song. People in the vicinity are seen taking photographs and films with Modi, as well as listening to the boy’s version of the patriotic song.

The video, which was released a day earlier, has already received millions of views. Netizens hailed the youngster’s performance and Modi’s kind gesture. However, comedian Kunal Kamra did not miss the opportunity to mock him for implicitly criticising PM.

Kunal Kamra, a comedian who is mostly making headlines for the criticizing ruling party, posted a modified video of the seven-year-old singing a song in front of Prime Minister Modi on Twitter on Wednesday. He used the boy’s singing video to take potshots at PM Modi, indulging in cheap theatrics.

However, Kamra removed the sound of the video and replaced it with slanderous background music. He altered the video and replaced the melody with “Mehngai Dayan,” a popular folk song about inflation that was used in the film “Peepli Live.”

The 33-year-old comedian captioned his post,

“Now who did this.”

In response to Kamra’s disgusting tweet targeting the little boy, Ganesh Pol, the kid’s father, lambasted him for his insensitivity and scolded him for using a young boy to advance his politics. The seven-year-old boy’s father stated that his kid wanted to perform the song for his beloved motherland and that despite his age, he loved the nation more than Kamra did.

By quoting the tweet of Kamra, he tweeted,

“He is my 7 year old son, who wanted to sing this song for his beloved Motherland. Though he is still very young but certainly he loves his country more than you Mr. Kamra or Kachra watever u are Keep the poor boy out of your filthy politics & try to work on your poor jokes.”

“The joke is not on your son, while you enjoy your son sing for his motherland to the most popular son, there are songs that he should listen to from people of his country also.”

Following this whole controversy, Kamra was trolled very brutally on social media. Several people call him “insensitive” while many people call for his arrest. The comedian also responded to those asking for his arrest on Twitter, stating,

“The father is guiding the child towards demo singing to PM while everyone has cameras rolling & footage shared on social media, PM got the kid in public domain not me. I just made the child sing a song the PM much rather hear…”

The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has subsequently taken notice of Kamra’s complaint.
