Ashneer Grover, the former BharatPe co-founder, has almost become a household name after he appeared as a judge on the popular business reality show, Shark Tank India Season 1. He has got quite a fan following for his sarcastic and witty remarks on the show. Though he has been shown the door for Season 2, his fans miss him dearly.
In a recent interview, Ashneer talked about some of the lesser-known details of his life and also opened up about how he managed to persuade his wife, Madhuri Jain Grover, to marry him.

Ashneer’s days as a student and how to be a ‘bada aadmi’
In an exclusive interview with Brut India, Ashneer Grover reminisced about his good old days as a student. As expected, he shared that he had always scored good marks in his class. He also opened up about how in spite of being famous, he’s an introvert who usually gets uncomfortable while addressing a large gathering.
He shared that in his school, he was the teacher’s favourite, and the businessman also revealed that he aced in Chemistry. His Chemistry marks especially got him into IIT.
He said,
“I aced in chemistry, which not many people like. I was selected for IIT because maine chemistry phod diya tha. Maths, quant and Physics thik thak tha”
The former Shark Tank India judge also came forward about his career, Ashneer revealed that he had worked at Kotak bank for almost seven years and even made some interesting big deals while working there. Ashneer has always been of the outlook that none can achieve anything massive just by doing a plush job. He wanted to explore and get out from the comfort of a salaried job, which he revealed to be the mantra for his success.

He said,
“My first deal was for around Rs 1600-2000 crore. I left the company when I knew they would transfer me to Mumbai. I am a Delhite and didn’t want to leave. I joined Grofers with a friend where I developed the muscle as a founder. After leaving the company, I launched BharatPe in just about 6-8 months. I firmly believe that sirf naukri karke koi bada aadmi nahi ban sakta”
Ashneer’s cute love story
Ashneer finally opened up about his cute love story with Madhuri. Ashneer also has a crazy love for bikes and recalled how he used to commute to his college on his motorbike and has many heartwarming memories. Talking about his love life, Ashneer reminisced how he met his wife Madhuri while he was preparing for CAT and told how he instantly fell in love with her and literally persuaded her to go out with him.

However, Madhuri asked about a review from one of her friends about Ashneer and said that he was not a good guy. Ashneer stated that he was very keen to marry her and added,
“Mera product review bura tha. She had asked a friend about me and she said he was just ‘ainwe hi’. But I was very persevering as I knew I wanted to marry her”
Ashneer has been grabbing headlines ever since his new book release, Doglapan.
