Talking about the alimony claims, Saira Banu’s lawyer stated that no discussions about financial settlements or compensation have taken place yet. She also emphasized that the separation is amicable. She revealed,
“Not as yet. It has not come to this stage yet. It would be an amicable divorce.”
The reason for the separation
When asked about the reasons behind the separation, the lawyer withheld from sharing
details, citing confidentiality. However, she praised both Rahman and Saira for their maturity and grace in handling the situation. She said,
“Both of them are extremely genuine, and this decision was not taken lightly. It is not what you would call a sham marriage”
Shah further lauded the couple’s enduring respect for one another, stating,
“Every long marriage goes through ups and downs, and I am extremely happy
that if it has come to an end, it has done so in a dignified manner. Both Rahman
and Saira will continue to support each other and wish each other well.”

When asked about the link with Mohini Dey’s divorce, their lawyer made it clear that there is no connection whatsoever.
Mohini is AR Rahman’s bassist, who has been performing with him for years and in over 40 shows. Surprisingly, she also announced her divorce from her husband a few hours after the music composer’s split news circulated on the internet. Netizens started speculating a connection between their divorces, but Saira’s lawyer cleared the air. Her lawyer noted:
“There is no connection at all. Saira and Mr. Rahman made this decision on their own”
Vandana clarified that in Saira and AR Rahman’s separation, there was no third party involved. She also stated that they are separating owing to their irreparable differences and the duo will continue to support each other. She added,
