Though jokes about the quality of airplane meals are widespread, the issue may not be entirely baseless. Like food in restaurants and supermarkets, food served on airplanes may be tainted with bacteria that cause foodborne diseases. Recently, unusual and concerning items have been discovered in airline food. Recently, a metal blade was discovered in a meal on an Air India trip.
Similarly, the incident a customer on the same journey from Cochin to Dubai received a nasty surprise when he found an insect in his dessert. The matter, within no minutes, became the talk of the town and has attracted a lot of criticism. At last, Air India responded to the incident.

The Insect found in an Air India meal left a passenger red-faced
A passenger traveling from Cochin to Dubai on the Air India airline found an insect in his dessert. Tomy Frank, the passenger, notified the cabin personnel right away, and they replaced the dessert and apologized immediately. However, Frank was left wondering how the insect ended up in his food.
Speaking about the incident, Tomy Frank said,
They immediately apologised for the incident and replaced the dessert. What I am really curious about is how did the insect end up in the dessert. I had read reports about a blade being found in an Air India in-flight meal a few days back and now this. How are we supposed to have faith that food served by the airline is fit to eat?

What action is the airline going to initiate in light of these incidents, which have become the new normal? I’m not sure about the number of instances of abnormal objects being found in Air India in-flight food but based on research I did after this incident, there were more than five such incidents in the past few months, which is concerning.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Air India received a show-cause notice from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for violating the Civil Aviation Regulations (CAR) and inflicting inconvenience on passengers. However, despite this, these kind of incidents are surfacing and causing problems for both airlines and passengers.
